Broken Cross
Madness reigned throughout the land
An angel lost his wings
Feathers plucked out one by one
Brought down by arrows and slings
Words of wisdom
On deaf ears fell
What once was good
Was beat to hell
Out of the ashes of unspoken truths
Rising with integrity
The angel spreads his arms out wide
Appearing quite unworldly
Trying to redeem himself
Repair the damage done
Taking up his broken cross…
Walks the prodigal son
Those that see can understand
Those that don’t will not…
Like trying to reap the howling wind
Happiness can’t be bought
