Is anyone else having this problem? - WinXP related

I can only spend a few minutes online before I get an error message that says:

This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM

Time before shutdown: 00:01:00

Message
Windows must restart becuase the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly.

It does this to me every few minutes after restarting if I'm connected to the internet. After spending about an hour on hold on the freggin' Compaq Tech Support line, the rep told me of a patch downloadable from Microsoft.com and 3 other options. I downloaded the patch, and so far it seems to be working. I've also contacted the e-mail help, and hope to hear from them soon.

I got a phone call from my sister in Utah earlier today who was also having problems and error messages, before I experienced any. Is this happening to anyone else?
