It's a pretty tough to call until we get to hear Brett actualy play on an album (if he gets the job). Personally, I think the band is at a real loss without Brian. The bass tracks on My Own Prison and Human Clay were there for so much more than to just fill out the sound, unlike most rock music. They added great texture to the songs. The chorus of My Own Prison is a good example. While the songs on Weathered mostly carry a different feel than the other two albums, the basslines just don't jump out the way Brian's did. Maybe because Mark doesn't have the experience on bass? Too hard to say probably. I'm sure he could probably shred on bass just as well as on the guitar. But anyway, we'll just have to wait and see who plays on the next album. If not Mark, I'd be fine with seeing what Brett does.
