don't worry about the Open D tuning until you can play most of the other songs that are in standard and Drop D.

I didn't even touch Open D until recently, and it's hell on your G string, so i wouldn't rush into it.


Oh yeah, free advice : Do NOT, i repeat, do NOT try to tune to Open D more than once on a cheap acoustic......i have welts....many many welts lol.

The first open D song i did was My Sacrifice, but imho, i think it actually sounds better in Drop D if you know how to play it right.

My favorite Open D song that has to be that way to sound good (i can play it in Drop D as well, but it's really hard to do the changes and keep in tempo), is Weathered.
