The Great Divide Album Sales

Hi Everyone,

I was having a Creed/Scott Stapp/Alter Bridge conversation with a few people at another message board and I was wondering how The Great Divide was doing as far as album sales. Does anyone have any numbers? Thanks in advance.

It's definitely shipped platinum, but I'm not sure how much it has sold. I'd say at least Gold.

From the RIAA site http://www.riaa.com/gp/database/default.asp

- Scott Stapp's solo album has gone Platinum (1,000,000 units shipped)
- Alter Bridge's first album has gone Gold (500,000 units shipped)

Creed's albums have gone multiplatinum
- My Own Prison 6x Platinum
- Human Clay 11x Platinum
- Weathered 6x Platinum
- Greatest Hits just Platinum

Creed sold more than that!

I think they just stopped counting because you know Creed outsells every single band (including U2)

Creed have sold well over 34 Million (in the us alone ok)
worldwide my estimate would be atleast 50million

in the us I would say albums sales were
My Own Prison 8 Million
Human Clay 13.5 Million
Weathered 12 Million
and Greatest Hits 1.5 Million

Re: The Great Divide Album Sales

oh good news all major shops in the UK seem to stock a copy of the Great Divide. and at a reasonable price too aroud £11. and they don't say "import" so I don't know if the great divide has now got a uk distributor or the shops can't be arsed to put the sticker on the album
but it's still great news. Before the shops said they can order it and it will take upto 3 weeks so its good news.

I go around music shops if I don't see The Great Divide and ask them to order it and then cancel my purchase. lol That's because I have got a copy allready. It's just too make the shop get it in stock :)

Proof? My statement is based on what the RIAA reports, which is what the basis for all these awards are made. In fact, according to this page:

http://www.riaa.com/gp/bestsellers/topartists.asp

Creed has "sold" (actually units shipped), in their existance, a combined total of 24 million records, as of July 31, 2006

I can't even find The Great Divide in any stores around here (ACT, AUS)

Re: The Great Divide Album Sales

Is that 24 million worldwide or just US? I thought I heard they sold 30 million worldwide, 20-something million US. Not sure, of course.

And, I highly doubt Creed has outsold U2. U2 is the biggest band in the world and has been for 18 years now. I'm pretty sure they've far outsold Creed. Maybe if Creed had stayed together for another 10 years, they might have challenged U2.

Yeah, even the soon-to-be-closing Tower Records has a few left.

I think Steve is correct. Most articles I've read say they've sold about 25 million (they probably round it off from 24 - a number I've come across from many different sources.)

I think the wordwide total is about 33 million.

This was even before the Greatest Hits CD
