Upcoming Album Update

Alter Bridge bassist Brian Marshall has updated on the second album courtesy alterbridgeband.net.

In his update, Marshall said “Hello everyone, glad to see you all are hanging in there. We have been in writing mode here in Orlando for some time, awaiting word on engineers/producers/labels to start recording. Looks like we are getting very close to the pre-production of our second record. We've all decided that these some 20 songs are probably the best we have ever created and if we don't get them tracked soon we will be pulling our hair out, locking the doors and beating eachother to a pulp. Just kidding of course. We have had our hands tied and anxiously await to share it with you all....until later...your 5 string friend, bringing the thunder... Brian Marshall”.


Although it will be a while before the album is released, fans can still hear two of the songs off of the new album, Come to Life and Buried Alive, on youtube.com. The band played those songs plus Ties That Bind at shows during their recent tour of Europe.

The album is still untitled and there is no release date set.

So Alter Bridge are getting ready to record their new record and Stapp's falling off buildings...

I doubt it. Some of those will probably be b-sides.

Speaking from experience...

When you go to record your album, you generally take about 30 songs with you. You either record or demo all 30 in the studio and then decide which songs go with which, and form your 11 song album. You want the diamonds, and not a bunch of filler. When my old band recorded our album, we had 22 songs, 10 of which made the cut. But those 10 were the best of the best. So, no, the new record wont have 20 songs, but it will have the best 11 or 12 that Tremonti & Co. can put out!

For the record, Stapp has plans of releasing a new CD in 2007. At least that's what his myspace said. Whether or not it gets delayed a year or two due to falling off balcony's, no one knows. :D

Anyway, it's good to know they're hard at work on the new album. Hopefully it is released by August 2007, or else it will have been 3 years since AB last released a CD. That's almost as long as it took Stapp to release his solo debut. I admit, I'm a bit impatient, but I know the new AB CD will be well worth the wait.

^ Yeah, I know. It's hard to believe that it's been so long since they released the debut CD. I still remember hearing OYE the first time(back in June/July of '04) and being so excited about the CD.

What I'm interested in is hearing how this album will sound. Heavyer or a mix? God, I hope this album helps AB seperate itself with what their former band was.
