Best Album of 2007...so far

Which album, which has come out so far this year, has been the cornerstone for you?

For me, it is Anberlin's "Cities". WOW, what an amazing album. Everyone I talk to, I tell them that I think "Cities" is my generation's "The Joshua Tree". Seriously, it is that good. The band has really matured, and with their third album, it's the best to date. It's definetly the best alternative album I've heard since The Juliana Theory's 2005 release "Deadbeat Sweetheartbeat". If you get a chance, check out "Cities" by Anberlin. It's AMAZING.

Honestly cant think of anything Ive heard this year that would even get close to a Best of 2007. though there is plenty to come. new NIN, Smashing Pumpkins, Velvet Revolver will hopefully be all awesome. I was looking forward to Chris Cornell's new solo album but after hearing the first single yesterday I've lost complete interest in it. Shadow of what he used to be, in terms of songwriting that is, not his voice before anyone jumps on my back.

On a different note, ive rediscovered The Cure again, absolutely loving them. Just bought the Trilogy DVD, amazing performance of what is IMO their best works.

Yeah, I'm still awaiting something that would make this list: new NIN, QOTSA, Porcupine Tree, among others.

i've enjoyed Cities... you should check out the B-side to their 1st single, "Godspeed"... the song is called "Haunting" and it's pretty glorious, too. i dunno if i'd call the album the Joshua Tree of our generation, though.
P.O.D.'s album, due out in late summer (I think) is gonna be off tha chain! same (hopefully) for AB!

My Vote would be either "Scattered Pieces: Live" By Shawn Mcdonald (Just a Dang Good Record of a Soulful Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Performed LIVE!)or "Temptation Come My Way" by The Showdown (Best New Metal That I've Heard In Long Time)

Well, it's not out yet but the tracks I've heard from the new Chris Cornell CD are kick ass. I want this album more than any others...

So far, I'm digging NIN's Year Zero, and Porcupine Tree's Fear of a Blank Planet. I'm looking forward to QOTSA's new one, too, due in June.

I like Year Zero but it's not an album I can listen to over and over like Trent's others. Zero Sum is one of the best NIN songs though, IMO.

Yeah, Zero Sum and Vessel are my favorites. I can't stop listening to it, though. It's getting multiple plays daily :D.

been listening to Cities quite a bit more of late. it's definitely my favorite of the year (until AB &--hopefully--P.O.D. come out in the next few months), and one of the very few albums I can stand listening to straight through from start to finish without skipping anything.
