What's an 'emo'?

someone explain to her cause i never explain properly and it never makes sence. :)

isn't an emo someone who generally listens to that emo and other punk lite music and wears black and has quite a few body piercings?

i went to watch my nieces dance show last night, she was the first group on and she was great, shes only four and i can see her making it big shes got soo much attitude when she dances its great, the only thing she did wrong was that she new the dance too well and was almost a step ahead of everyone. i was such a proud aunty i smiled throughout her performance, it was great. :) :) :) :)

can't say emo stuff like jimmy eat world (some of their stuff is okay i admit) really does it for me. actually they are probably the best of that genre, most of those bands i detest.

i dont listen to alot of emo music its just the way i dress and cause ive dyed my hair dark and had my lip pierced to one side that my bro said ive become emo, he was telling me the other week that im finally becoming cool then he goes and accuses me of being emo, my bro is retarded.

LOL emo ... that's so strange. So if they listen to punk music, wear black and have peircings they are called an 'Emo'. That's great. :p Over here, we call that a 'Gothic' Don't you guys over in the states use that word? `

we call them goths here as well....it is the same thing right? i don't really like that look....a bit gloomy.

Yeah it sounds like the same thing, although goths over here are either really depressed and negative, or think they're really cool wearing all black .. lol

emo and goths arent the same at all i dont think, this is how my bro descrides emo, its all rich kids who've had a great life writing songs about being depressed and stuff, i found a website once that described emo ill go look for it.
