LOL, he's one of the baseball players who helped the Red Sox FINALLY win a World Series after 86 years of futility. My grandma went her whole life without ever seeing our boys win a title. Johnny Damon rules! And very cool that the boys played at his wedding. Rock on! The Sox love AB!

86 years? How did they survive that long without a title? I assume their supporter base must be fairly small then. There are a couple of teams in the national football league (called AFL) that only have one premiership after being in the league for over 100 years but they suck royaly. Johnson with our boys....*sigh*

OMG, no, their fan base covers six states, which, even though the states are relatively small, is a pretty big base all things considered. The Red Sox are huge where I grew up. It's the biggest sport in New England. And generations have been waiting aeons for them to finally win. There is such a history of their many close calls. I don't remember ever not following baseball. Other sports I became a fan of as I got older, but baseball has been with me forever.

In this country sporting teams don't get a following unless they've had at least a few years of sustained success. We are kind of sports mad though and we've killed the sport of cricket cause the other teams now suck so much. Seriously when England is the second best in the world, something is seriously wrong lol.

LOL, well, there is a whole mind-set with baseball, as it's been around longer than the other so-called major sports here. It's 100+ years old and kids also grow up playing it. It's the one sport where just about every kid can play.

Wow, that's awesome! I heard Damon got married and that Johnson was there, but I had no idea that AB was there, too! That's pretty sweet.:D And, I might not be a huge fan of the Red Sox(though it was nice to see them win the title) but I have to admit Damon is one of my favorite baseball players.

Dogstar 01-01-2005 02:44 PM

Right on, Titan9. Man, that must have been some wedding reception!

It was posted by AlterBridgeGoddess (Rockgoddess here) over at alterbridgeband.net and I have no reason to doubt her.
