From what I've been able to track down, as of last week, total US sales for ODR was 291,500 and as of right now, ODR is at #200 on the Billboard Top 200 *ouch* What concerns me is that if the label/riaa has them certified Gold based on albums shipped, then the expectation was that they would hit that 500,000 sales mark...sooner, rather than later. A pessimist at heart, I can't help but wonder...underneath it all, was there too high of an expectation out of the gate? |

I think the biggest selling album ever is like Eagles Greatest Hits at like 30,000,000 sold worldwide. I'm  . Way back when ODR came out, some of you said it had already been certified gold because that's how many were shipped and the president of Wind-Up gave the plaques to the guys and Myles cried and so forth. So, certification was based on shipments. Now, it's been certified for that many sales as well? Yes, I do believe we had too high expectations, but 500,000 in 3 mos. equals, hopefully 1,000,000 in half a year and 2,000,000 in a year. Of course, sales will speed up for Christmas, slow down afterwards and such, but, hey, there not doin' too bad for a debut album. |
If Wind Up had advertised a little for the band and the album in USA and the rest of the world, then they would be getting a platinum record now! Screw you, Wind Up!!
|
they need to promote more internationally......
