Misunderstood Creed Lyrics Of Our Own
Okay, y'know that site where people posted what they misunderstood lyrics of songs as? Well, this is the same thing, except just Creed stuff. I'll start us off......
Once upon a long time ago, I was singing to "Inside Us All" in the car. And I was a youngin' and I didn't read those lyrics in the lyric books to be sure of what I was singing, and I didn't pay as much attention to the lyrics as I do now. Well anyway, I was singing along, and this is what I WAS saying.... "There's a beast inside your soul, Let it be your friend, There's a beast inside your soul.......................There's a beast, Theres a beast inside your soul, let it be, let it be your friend" I still laugh about that. I assure you I don't sing it that way anymore! LOL That's just such the opposite of Creed, and it sounds really bad, but I wasn't really paying attention to those kind of things at the age I was at when I did that. I just thought I'd start something like this because it's kinda fun to look back a stupid little mistakes like that and make fun of yourself for being such an idiot! |
a beast...haha thats awesome
|
i'll try that next time...
|
I honestly thought Scott said "Unlike folks who hide the truth I tell it like it is" in Freedom Fighter. My daughter used to sing "Uh, but all the others will flyyyy" in My Sacrifice. Not exciting, but that's my story.

LOL Teri! That's not too far off though ;) Mine is rather embarrasing..... Back around '97 and '98 when I didn't know any better, I thought the line was, *Cause we all live under the reign...I said you know of the wolf king..wolf king...wolf king* LMAO I must have been :smokin: eta: I can't believe I actually admitted that! |
LOL! This is the first time that story has even gotten out of my family! I just thought it would be kind of a fun post. I'm just glad no one heard me sing it that way except my mom!
Wolf King! haha, that's pretty good. I wonder what the Creed guys would think of us if they saw some of these things! |

I thought the same thing, Teri, LOL. |
In "My Sacrifice", when I first heard it, I thought Scott said "above all the young girls, we'll fly"...lol.
|
My daughter was singing Higher and she was singing *to a place where blonde men see* :D

LMAO this thread is awesome!

i think the reason people misinterpret the lyrics is cause scott has an accent when he sings... its kinda funny "i've created my own preeeeesuunnn" know what im saying? BTW i sing it like that

No..its "Unlike those who..." (not folks)
and its "Above all the others..." (not Uh, but all) |
oohh.....I see....
|
Here are some of my misinterpretations... maybe not as funny as the others but oh well. In OLB i used to sing "something in between" instead of "something in His grace".. in What If I used to say "the more you hold us down, the more we question", and this one is a classic... i used to think that in MOP Scott sings "So I Held my head up high" and not mark, i thought mark does "and i said ohhh...."
|
The funny thing is, when I mess up the lyrics and then learn the right ones later, I oftentimes can't even remember the old wrong ones. I know I messed the hell out of Higher when I first heard it, and there were just a ton of other lyrics on Human Clay that I never quite understood till I read the book... lol
|
I finally remembered one. Not as funny as some of the others. It was years ago when MOP first came out.
Instead of "A court is in session" I used to sing "Quarters in session" |
I thought of another.....in Only in America
I said "the choir risks singing, as the leader falls to the ground" but it's really "the choir is singing..." Not really funny but oh well. |
I used to think in Higher he was singing " to a place with golden streams." It made sense to me at first. But then I read the book. Then it made even more sense. AHHH!

I think my friend used to say "golden streams", lol. I remember reading a tab online for "Higher" and the dude posted lyrics, but half the lyrics were wrong. My friend and I cracked up reading some of them.
this one isn't funny but in "Are You Ready" instead of "are you ready? for US to come", i thought it was "are you ready? for WHAT'S to come". I remember in "Wrong" he says "What makes you stop and smell the roses in an open field", after "roses" I could never figure out what he said. also in "Freedom Fighter" i had trouble understanding "while at the gates of paradise, they beat us down some more" I just noticed another one from "Freedom Fighter" while going through my tab book, "I'll scream it from the mountain tops, PRIDE comes before a fall", i used to think he said "that" (Edit), just found another. In "Unforgiven" I thought it was "no more raping innocence", but it actually is "no more raging innocence". I remembered one of them sounding like "raging", but the rest I thought were "raping". |

Me too Robyn. Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong ("unlike folks who hide the truth I tell it like it is.) :D

my Human Clay tab book shows it as "us" you never know though because they said it was "raging innocence" in Unforgiven, but on my HOB 98 bootleg Stapp clearly says "raping innocence" |
My HC booklet only says.....
Are you ready? Are you ready? and it skips the part we seem to be having some confusion over....... I think it's..... for what's to come. It makes more sense to me. |
That's going to stump me for the rest of my life. That and "raging/raping innocence". I was so sure it was raping, now Dan just said it was raging, and I'm confuzzled. Damnit. :wtf:
I used to think Scott said "golden streams" in Higher, too...but the funniest thing is the thread-starter: "There's a beast inside your soul..." Wow, that just takes the cake. :D |
Can't remember 100% now, but way back when I heard my first Creed song ever on the radio (I think) My Sacrifice, I thought he said "Up above all the ocean(s?)" "Up above the ocean(s?)" or something like that, maybe I left out the "Up."
|
Sorry for the double post, BTW, is it possible that Scott is saying "raping innocence" because you can't put "raping" in the lyrics book or something like that? I always thought he said raping.

You're right, Redeemer, if some things were left out of lyrics books that are worse than raping, then the book would be empty for some artists. :D
I think Scott says "For what's to come" in "R U Ready?" |
Oh, and the store I went in to buy my first Creed CD Weathered (I bought from most recent to less recent for some reason  ) I saw MOP with a PG rating sticker. I had never seen this sticker before, just things like Explicit Lyrics but it didn't have that on it. When I eventually bought MOP another day, it didn't have any stickers or warnings.
|
BTW, what does Scott sing in PFAD when it sounds like "sell and sell my pity for a dime and a ????? take my soul?" It comes b/t the chorus a couple of times.
