MIAMI BEACH

4 guitars are stolen from Creed
BY CAROLINA ZAMORA

Someone stole two custom-made guitars worth at least $150,000 used by the band Creed.

The guitars, and two others worth $2,500, were stolen sometime between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. on May 11 from a truck parked in the driveway of Creed frontman Scott Stapp's residence.

Henry Gutierrez, an employee of Stapp's, told Miami Beach police he was loading some equipment when he went inside the house and left the truck's tailgate doors open with the four guitars in their black cases still inside.

Gutierrez said he got delayed inside with phone calls and did not realize the guitars were missing until about an hour later when he returned to the truck.

The driveway gate is normally closed, but Stapp's housekeeper told police that the gate was left open because laborers were working on the house.

According to police, two of the guitars are Gibsons worth about $1,250 each, while the other two are customized PRS guitars -- one a gold model with ''custom built for Scott Stapp'' written on the neck, the other one black with ''Prototype 4'' printed on the back of the neck and ''Tremonti'' engraved on the lower frets.

Creed, which is made up of frontman Stapp, lead guitarist Mark Tremonti and drummer Scott Phillips, formed in 1995 in Tallahassee, and became a top-selling act with its sophomore release, 1999's Human Clay. The band scored a Grammy in 2001 with the hit song With Arms Wide Open.

Police have asked that anyone with information on the theft call Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

I had a feeling it must have been someone working for Stapp; how could he just leave the tailgate doors open like that and walk away, not knowing how long 'til he came back to the truck? Oh well, I guess everyone makes mistakes, but, I'm sure he won't be making that mistake again!

Henry Gutierrez = Kiki

Higher_Desire 05-20-2004 05:42 PM

Wow. A Tremonti prototype. I'd like to get my hands on that. Does anyone have a phone number for Henry? LOL. I'd at least like to get his job. :D

Why don't we get any information on the "two others"? Are they just not special?

H-D :pimp:

He is. However, he has been "hanging around" with Scott, especially since early this year. Remember the pictures of Scott in the Miami Clubs? Kiki was with him. Kiki was also with Scott during his trip to LA for the Grammy's and those movie premieres. (I call Kiki Scott's shadow)

Woah, I didn't expect him to be the thief. Very surprising.

Not since early 2003.

Apparently ever since he's been attatched to Stapp, and on/off dating his sister (apparently they're engaged?).

Ever since Creednet Kiki (henry...whatever) has struck me as someone who got his jollies being "Friends" with someone famous. And from people's stories...YIKES... He's just one of those people that gave me the creeps from day 1

It's guys like Kiki and Kato who make "brown-nosing" and being a "clingon" an actual job.

Well that's a dumb thing to do for starters, leave the truck's doors open when anyone can see some nice guitar cases, obviously with guitars in them. That's pretty stuipd. But thank you for the information, I hope they find them, but I doubt someone will come forward.
