whats the first song u learned

Rune 04-07-2003 04:26 PM

The first song i learned was time of your life by green day.

I learned the chords first, then i learned the picking pattern.

i know this is a dumb question but im ordering the tremonti se and i just wanna know how distortion works with an electric guitar. do i need something for distortion or will i just be able to do it with the guitar and amp.

Rune 04-08-2003 04:57 PM

Depends on what amp you have, but the distortion comes from the amp.

Most guitar amps have two channels, clean and dirty. The clean sound is the normal sound, and the dirty sound is the distortion.

You will probably need a footswitch on your amp unless you want to bend over every time you want to change and hit the button.

What kind of amp are you going to get/ have already

tru2mine 04-08-2003 05:19 PM

im not sure yet thats why i thought id ask. trying to make sure i have the right stuff

Rune 04-08-2003 05:26 PM

yeah you'll want the guitar, an amp, and a channel footswitch

btw if this is your first guitar, don't go overboard on the amp, 30 30-50 watts MAX, i would suggest getting like a 30 watt or under, cuz for just beginning you don't need to be shelling out too much cash

Yhea i hav a question, whut is the best way to do rapid fingerpicken, like on solo shit, and bababababbaba stuff?

Rune 04-08-2003 08:47 PM

depends on what you're comfortable with, there are several techniques.

Tremolo picking is really fast up and down picking on single strings which is good if you can do it.

There's fret tapping which is using your right hand to hammer on the frets to make the solo's

Then there's sweep picking which is really hard. Basically you strum down once and play the whole solo with your left hand on the way down.

I'd use a pick if I wanted to pick fast...it gives me the option of alternate picking.

Hi Rune:
Okay here's my question...Warning...I'm not very computer literate so don't go there...
I play guitar...not well, but I play. Do you know of any easy versions of Creed songs? I have some old "easy version" books of other artists, but have never seen a Creed one. I looked at the Creed music books out there....no little pictures of chords at the top? That's the only way I can play...I taught myself years ago and can't read music. I can play by ear. If I had the time I'm sure I could figure out chords,by listening to the acoustic songs, but I don't have the time right now. Can you help???
Linda

My best advice for you linda is before you try to learn any creed songs, you should get a chords book and learn some basic chords (A-G Major, and A-G minor at the very least)

Once you have that general knowledge and you can switch between the chords easily and relatively quickly, learning tabs will be much easier.

njcreedite 04-29-2003 07:19 PM

Rune,
I already know the chords...I've been playing for years..I just don't read music and so can't read the Creed books out there.
Don't know what "tabs" are. I also have small hands so some of the more complex bar chords are dif. for me. I can play fairly well, but as I said....I don't have the time to listen to all the acoustic versions and try to pick out the chords by ear. I've done it to other songs, but don't have time right now.
Thanks

If you can't read the music itself, then learning will take time.

If you want to learn creed quickly, you should learn the Tabs.

What tabs are are bars underneath all the ledgers of notes that represent each string. Those bars will have numbers on them that tell you where to fret in order to play the song.

If you dont have the books with the Tabs in them, then go to www.mxtabs.net and into the guitar section, then click C, then go to creed, it will list all the songs there. The more stars it has after you click it the more accurate it is (most of the time).
