Just found this out. Looks like there are no modern rock acts on this one. It's actually released on like a Christian country label, Universal South. Read for yourself...

ALBUM OF SONGS INSPIRED BY
“THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST” TO BE RELEASED ON APRIL 6th

SPECIAL COMPILATION CD TO SERVE AS A COMPANION PIECE
TO RECORD-BREAKING FILM

Nashville, TN – March 3, 2004 – Universal South Records announced today their plans to release Songs Inspired By “The Passion of the Christ” on April 6th, 2004. The CD was compiled by Lian Lunson with input from director Mel Gibson and is intended to serve as a companion piece to the ground-breaking film. The CD includes music from Leon Russell, Leonard Cohen, Dolores O'Riordan (of Cranberries fame), Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Ricky Skaggs, Holly Williams (performing a song by her grandfather, Hank Williams Sr.) and Elvis Presley, among others listed below. The project also contains a song written and performed by Jessi Colter and Shooter Jennings (the late Waylon Jennings’s widow and son) specifically for this film.

Directed and produced by Mel Gibson, The Passion of the Christ was released to theaters nationwide on Wednesday, February 25th. In its first week of release, it became the first film of 2004 to cross the $100 million mark, grossing $117.5 in box office receipts in its first five days of release.

Over the last few months, Gibson worked with his close friend, documentary filmmaker and music video director Lian Lunson (Leon Russell, U2, Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam) to put together an album that they felt would honor the emotional voyage experienced by watching the film. Gibson felt that the songs should compliment the message in the film and inspire spiritual reflection, but not in an obvious way. The CD takes the listener on a journey, often a dark and reflective one.

The album is being mastered now so that advance copies can be serviced to the press around the middle of March.

Track & Artist Listing
1. Holly Williams -- "How Can You Refuse Him Now"
2. Leon Russell -- "Stranger In A Strange Land"
3. Ricky Skaggs -- "Are You Afraid To Die" (Intro recitation by Reverend Billy Graham)

That does not mean Wind-up said no... look at the list of artists... Stapp really doesn't fit in that group. He would have been out of place I think.

Higher_Desire 03-07-2004 05:26 AM

That's CRAP! Dude. If Wind-Up did one... it would kick so much arse. Scott did 4 songs for it. They'd better get released somewhere.

It's not that bad. I wouldn't want to listen to any of those other artists, even if Scott was on there. They'll release his stuff somewhere else. They might even make another CD. Guess we'll just have to wait. Maybe he'll use it on the solo album, I wouldn't mind that. The official soundtrack is good, in my opinion, probably better than a lot of those songs on the "inspired by" album... not to bash any of those artists, I just can't stand most modern gospel tunes.

I know when I was at work we rec'd about 4 CD's of a Christian Passion of the Christ related album that will come out this coming Tuesday, it had SixPence None the Richer, Jars of Clay, etc. on it, I have feeling there may be several that will come out.

WeatheredWoman 03-07-2004 11:17 AM

Ok??? So there's still some hope? It's just a big dissapointment... wanted to hear some new stuff with Scott's voice on it. That's all! Now we have to wait longer than we thought... again... and again... :(

Sheila63 03-07-2004 11:29 AM

I know, I was really looking forward to some new music too :( but hopefully the song or songs will be put on another cd or his solo cd like VVV said.

creedwisdom 03-07-2004 12:59 PM

i was so upset about this, i couldn't see straight :mad1:, but after some thought, i feel it would be best for stapp to release that music in his own way. hopefully he will get them out on his own. they just did not belong with that group....but I WANT TO HEAR THEM SO MUCH :rockout:
