Sleep eludes…ducking and weaving
Like a fighter proving a point…
Outlasting his opponent
Through sheer tenacity and willpower…
On the brink, walking a tightrope
One misstep…
It’s a long way to the ground…
Pay attention, and the walk is a thrill a second…
Come…walk with me to the edge
And beyond…
Take my hand in case either of us slips…
We can support one another
It will be the thrills in our walk that are remembered…
No more falling and landing
On the cold, harsh ground…alone
Crossing the threshold together we see
The fighter, willpower spent
Leave himself open to receive Sleep’s final blissful blow…
