sure you know the killers, do these lines sound familiar? :D

somebody told me
you had a boyfriend
that looked like your girlfriend
that i had in feburary of last year

or
....cause i'm mr.brightside

anyhow i was initially a little let down by emotive but its now in my regular rotation. i like that billy gets to sing in a few songs although this album doesn't compare to their first two "proper" albums IMO. radiohead are a mood band for me but there is no denying the technical genius of johnny greenwood or a song like "fake plastic trees".

aussiecreeder 11-08-2004 01:46 AM

btw you bought four albums from one band in the recent past? wow you must be head over heals.... ;)

If this has been on radio, I wouldn't know it because I don't listen to the radio :D

I was, too, but eMOTIVe has grown on me. There are still songs I don't like, but I would say I like half of them. And yes, I think it's great that Billy got to sing on so many of the songs. It makes me very curious about his solo project...I love Radiohead, too. Have you ever seen them live? Great show!!!

Yes, this band has been around for about 10 years, but they are new to me and I haven't had a band hit me like that in a while. They are kind of all over the map style-wise, but they remind me of everything from Hendrix to Tool to Zep to Floyd to Primus...you name it. The bass player is the lead singer and they are a three-piece out of either Washington State or Oregon. I keep meaning to find out more about them, but right now, I'm just digesting all the fantastic music.
Unfortunately, they tour only locally, which means mostly the West Coast, but they have quite a following out there from what I'm told. I so want to see them live. They are a talented bunch. The singer/bassist, Rob Wynia, has an awesome set of pipes.

If you're interested, check out their web site. I think they have a few songs up for download. Their latest is an acoustic album, which is really sweet. They also are doing a rerelease of a couple of their early albums...

The last two albums I've bought were Alter Bridge and Submersed.

TeriB19 11-10-2004 06:32 PM

The last CD I bought was Submersed. And the next DVD I'm buying is the DVD of the Live Aid concert of 1985.

Maynard should be fuckign stoned to death for that faggot-ass rendition of Imagine. God, I have never felt so insulted.

I love that cover. There are several other songs I don't like, but I dig Imagine.

Mulletman 11-11-2004 06:34 PM

I'd still like to see him stoned....

LOL! Don't you think that's just a tad harsh ;)? I could conur with that sentiment when it comes to Gimmiex3, though, and When the Levee Breaks...Those two just assaulted my ears.

Mulletman 11-11-2004 07:26 PM

Yea, but I am sick of his "artistic" nature... like a three year old's picture on the fridge.

Hehehehe. I don't know, I'm still digging most of what he's doing. Very curious about the new Tool CD, though.

yeah i've listened to it! :) its a bit like aenima except its more aggressive and straight-forward i guess. the most amazing thing about maynard i think is how with his two bands he is almost a completely different vocalist.

Torn Daredevil 11-11-2004 11:28 PM

That cover of Imagine is really amazing, considering I hate anything Beatle/Lennon related and don't really care for the original (don't even start, I already get enough shit for that).

And I love his version of The Fiddle and the Drum, some of the most incredible harmonizing I've ever heard. Some of the other though just kinda lost me...

I thought you would like it. I think it was you who said sometimes Tool is inaccessible as compared with APC, but you're right about Undertow being more straight-forward, sound-wise. I listened to it on the way to work today, and it comes in handy for the f*cktard drivers I encounter. Helps keep the rage at bay :D.

Hellboy, Fiddle and the Drum is my favorite on eMOTIVe...It's really moving.

lol there is a bit of anger on that album hey? :D
yeah sometimes tool can be like that but undertow doesn't really that problem. i still prefer APC though.....amotion and pj come out soon so i "have" to get those too lol.

Hehehe, yeah, just a tad ;)...I still can't choose between the two, though. There are some days that I am all about Tool and some days it's all APC. So, I'm going to be lame and say I can't pick one over the other :D...And how did I miss this PJ Greatest Hits thing? When is that coming out? Is there anything else with it, like a DVD or anything?

aussiecreeder 11-13-2004 05:48 AM

there is no DVD but there are songs like state of love and trust, breath and man of the hour, plus remixed versions of ten classics black and even flow which had too much reverb back in the day. :)

JulieCitySlicker 11-13-2004 01:32 PM

Just got the new Switchfoot and Good Charlotte cd's :D

Me, too. I mean, how many fricken Greatest Hits compilations have they milked from AIC? It's ridiculous. They have as many, if not more, than their studio releases. And isn't Sony the one that does the Essential (plug in band name here) collections? *rolls eyes*

psst... if you lived here, you'd hate Sony 10000 times more than you do.

jango 11-16-2004 04:08 AM

I'm a Pearl Jam fan, there's NO way I could hate Sony any more than I do right now.

Bridge of Clay 11-16-2004 07:49 AM

Jango, there is a way: Living in a country that's not USA.

RMadd 11-16-2004 10:35 PM
