"Open Your Eyes" Tabs Here

After listening to the song a bunch of times i grabbed my guitar and learned it by ear (except the solo).

It is indeed in Open D5 as i thought, but it can also be played in Drop D (which i think is how they recorded it, i believe Mark played in open d5 and myles played in drop d).

Anyways the intro is as follows (i can't line up the x's for mutes properly, just know that in this the d string has to be muted (the 4th string from the bottom, the low d can be strummed, i'm not sure if tremo does it or not, but he most likely does just to give the riff a little extra bass.) I apologize in advance if some of the numbers don't line up, i had difficulties lol:

(FYI: listen to the song for strum patterns, there is also a similar fill Mark does during parts of the verse that resembles the intro except where he goes up to the 12th and 14th frets on the A and G strings respectively, but it's the same shape)

---------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
--9/11-9--7-----9/11--9--11--5--9/11--9--7--7--9--6--7-------
-------------0--------------------------------------------------
--7/9--7--5--0--7/9---7---9--7--7/9---7--5--5--7--4--5--------
-------------0--------------------------------------------------

Verse:
4th Time:
--2---x---5-------------- --2---------------------------------
--2---8---2-------------- --2---8-----------------------------
--4---7---3-------------- --4---7-----------------------------
--4---5---0---- x3------ --4---5-----------------------------
--2---5---0------------- --2---5------------------------------
--x---5---0------------- --x---5------------------------------

Chorus(sorry about number lineup, all are chords):

--5-----2-------------------------------------------------------
--5-----2-------------------------------------------------------
--7--7--4--------------------------------------------------------
--7--7--4--5--7--5-- x2 (second time stop at first 555 bar)--------
--5--4--2--5--7--5-----------------------------------------------
--x--x--x--5--7--5-----------------------------------------------

Bridge(first chord has some picking, sounds good in open d5):

--2-------------------------0h2p0--0--0------2--------------------
--2--8--2-------------------2-----2---2------2----------2-------2---
--4--7--3-------Trill thing---3---------3------4----------3-------3----
--4--5--0-------------------0---------0------4--5--xxx--0--xxx--0----
--2--5--0-------------------0---------0------2--5--xxx--0--xxx--0---
--x--5--0-------------------0---------0------x--5--xxx--0--xxx--0---

Solo (rhythm part, i can't play the solo lol)

--2-------------------2-----5----2----2-----5----2-----------------
--2--8------2------2--2-----5----2----2--8--5----2----------------
--4--7------3------3--4-----7-7--4----4--7--7-7--4-----------------
--4--5--xxx-0--xxx-0--4--5--7-7--4-5--4--5--7-7--4--5-- Chorus----
--2--5--xxx-0--xxx-0--2--5--5-4--2-5--2--5--5-4--2--5-----------
--x--5--xxx-0--xxx-0--x--5--x-------5--x--5--x-------5--------------

This was tabbed to be played in drop D, if you play it in open d5, for the intro take all the notes on the G string and lower it by two frets to get the octave. Also the picking on the first chord of the bridge is meant for open d5 and won't sound right in drop D, other that that i'd say it's about 95% correct (again i apologize for the numbers not lining up).

Well that only took me an hour to type lol, hope you guys get something useful out of this :)

Anyone have any comments? obviously this is geared towards musicians...but lemme know

I think it's awesome you got it so quick. Thanks for the tabs. I'll have to work on learning it. Of course, it'd be easier if I had an electric instead of just 2 acoustics.

H-D :pimp:

:) i've had a lot of practice, when i first started guitar i learned most of creed's songs by ear, then went to the tabs to correct anything i missed.

It's really not that hard, the more you do it the more you can hear all the little minor things that add up to make the song good, so i listened to it a ton to make sure i wasn't missing something, then i just started from the first chord and went.

Typically in any given song the chord progressions are all connected, so once you can follow it it's not a problem, especially if you know the circle of fifths and the chord progression/regression charts like i do :)

I can't tune like this... I don't think I'll try to play it so soon... it's beyond my level
