Escape

By all outward appearances
She’s really nothing new
Her hips are bumpy
A little frumpy
This aging mother of two

She completes her daily task’s
Puts the kids to bed
Still too wired
To be tired
Feels like the walking dead

For a while, she’ll escape
Somewhere behind the bubbles
In silence sits
With candles lit
She forgets her troubles

Today she ran a marathon
It’s one she knows she’ll win
This aging rose
Lives the life she chose…
And she’d do it all again
