Creed: What are they?

Ok, I've been studying the lyrics of Creed's singles (the one's that are on launch). I noticed that in most of them there's always a referral to God, a higher being, and/or familiar Christain subjects. Here are a few examples of what I'm talking about:

Quote:

(from Higher)
Can you take me Higher?
To a place where blind men see
Can you take me Higher?
To a place with golden streets

Quote:

(from One Last Breath)
I thought I found the road to somewhere
Somewhere in His grace
I cried out heaven save me
But I'm down to one last breath

Quote:

(from My Own Prison)
I hear a thunder in a distance
See a vision of a cross
I feel the pain that was given
On that sad day of loss
A lion roars in the darkness
Only he holds the key
A light to free me from my burden
And grant me life eternally

Quote:

(from With Arms Wide Open)
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face

Get the point? Ok, well here's my question: Is Creed a Christian band, a band that are Christians, or just a bunch of guys that beleive in God?

*Sigh...*
They pretty much have said over and over and over and over again that they are NOT a Christian band, but guys who believe in God. Scott Stapp, who wrote a lot of the lyrics, was brought up in a very religious home, so he tends to use a lot of religious/biblical imagery in his lyrics. There isn't anything evangelical about them.

thanks

Ok, I was just curious. I just recently started listening to them , so I don't know much about them, so thank you. I appritiate it.

Technically, Creed isn't even a band anymore. Welcome to the board.

well by that logic Led Zepplin isn't a band anymore. In my eyes they will always be a band as long as you listen to their music. Once people stop listening and forget whom Creed is when they would cease to be a band. Just remember as long as all the members are still alive there is always a chance you will get new music from them. As of right now there doesn't look like a chance of this happening but (I hate to bring up another Journey reference but...) Journey broke up for a short time and some of the members formed Bad English, after a couple albums Journey reformed. Look at all the other bands that have "split up" and have come back strong, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen.... the list could go on and on. There is always hope but until then (or in the event it never comes) enjoy Alter Bridge's new stuff and Creed's old stuff.

Umm... back on topic of Creed and spiritual imagery in their music. You can find a whole lot more than what was pointed out.

Quote:

My Own Prison
I cry out to God
Seeking only his decision
Gabriel stands and confirms
I've created my own prison

A direct reference to the Archangel Gabriel there.

Quote:

Unforgiven
Step inside the light and see the fear
Of God burn inside of me

Quote:

What's This Life For
Cause we all live
Under the reign of one king.

Quote:

One
We may rise and fall, but in the end
We meet our fate together

One
The only way is one

I know I can go on and on but there is no need to. Creed always said they were not a Christian rock band. That is the only word you need. If you listen to the music and it makes you feel closer to your god then more power to you but if not then so be it. People look for inspiration and meaning in everything, it just so happens that Creed is a little easier to take that from whatever the artists intentions were.
