Mark & Scott - Am I the only one who's torn??

I know we have done this before, but the more I hear about Alter Bridge, the bigger the division I feel in my heart. I am so excited about Alter Bridge and am proud of Mark and all that - I really truly am. But then I see the pictures of him and Myles and I think no matter what anyone says -- Scott included --they are original Creed boys minus Stapp -- and it doesn't feel right and there is no way in heck that it isn't affecting Stapp. It is like they are both my children and I am just as happy for Mark as I am in pain for the way it must affect Scott. I know I shouldn't think that they both can't be successful independent of each other. And I do think that we are going to get to see a whole new side or at least a new depth to Mark that wasn't part of the Creed formula - which is very cool. It also stirs up all that worry for Stapp like what the heck could have happened for it to come to this? I know Scott looks great and is making movies and doing charity things and such, but I don't believe for a second that there isn't more going on behind the scenes with him. I agree with Micheal that Scott is very very good at presenting himself. I think he could make us believe whatever he wants to. Anyway - I just noticed that as my excitement grows for Alter Bridge so does the sinking feeling I get in the pit of my stomach about Stapp.

14Fuel 05-07-2004 01:09 PM

I feel the same way..............sounds weird to say but when I found out I almost felt, I guess betrayed in a way. I was like, but but but what about Scott???? But he is a very talented man and I'm sure will continue to have success in whatever he does. Whether or not he continues in music and goes off into film or whatever, I think he'll be fine. And yes he does present himself very well however if you look back at times that he WAS in a great deal of pain, you can tell. And right now he looks extremly happy. Maybe it's just me hoping all is good with him, but I really don't see sorrow in his eyes. And we all know...........those eyes are easy to read! :)

ibleedpurple 05-07-2004 02:02 PM

I dunno.... the more I read and hear about Stapp, the more I dislike the guy. I've tried to believe that he's a great person but every story I hear lately directs me to believe the opposite.

But really, I think the time away from Creed will benefit all involved. I think it's been obvious from the start that Scott was more into the showmanship part of the business, the image that Creed projected and all of that, and Mark and Flip have been more about the music. And now, Scott can go out on his own and be the showman that he wants to be without worrying about stringing the others along for the ride, and Mark and Flip (and Brian) can go on with some straight-up good ol music and focus on what they do best. As much as I would love to see Creed stay together and make more memories, the ones I do have (with the possible exception of the end of the Weathered tour) are very happy ones and I'll cherish those forever. But I think it really is best for all of them to move on and do what they want, without holding each other back.

Mr.CreedFreakTN 05-07-2004 02:53 PM

I for one hope that they get it out of their system. I'm curious to hear Mark and Scott's new material but, I'd be more excited if it were Creed. I know I'm going to get a bunch of crap for this but here goes. It has amazed me at how much people here have turned on Scott Stapp . I mean even Steve has said he'd rather have Myles than Scott. That just floors me. I was at Creed's last show it was awesome, Scott's vocals were unbelieveable. I honestly hope that these are just side projects and then we get our Creed back. This was meant in no way to offend anyone it was just my observation.

your not the only one

14Fuel 05-07-2004 03:47 PM

MrCreedFreakTN - I'm so with you................I really hope all this side stuff is only temporary. I was (just as you) very shocked to see fans turn against Scott. Just as most of us, he's gone through some rough times and as we all know his emotions come out of him very strong. So when he was having a hard time and showing it, fans turned their backs. I don't know, all I can say is I miss Creed. They were a kick ass band and I personally think that they were all in it for the music. Otherwise they wouldn't have an "army" of fans out there like they do. I really hope we have more Creed records in the future.................near future would be even better. But you have to remember that they've said multiple times that they promised each other 10 years and if it didn't work out then they'd find other ways to support themselves. Well, 10 years came and they went on "hiatus!" So to me, more than likely.............even though they haven't said it, I think they're pondering a break up. Most bands don't do side projects with everyone still in the band BUT the lead singer. And yeah, sometimes Scotts passion plays against him.............but unlike so many of us in this world today, atleast he's real. ;)

Plus.............Scott said it best, his charactor is always being judged! Can't we all just kiss and make up! :D

ibleedpurple 05-07-2004 03:58 PM

I hate to burst your bubble, but... here's a report that someone gave on CreedPit yesterday of a story on a radio station in Chicago:

----

OK- Here goes. Its not the lawsuit it was just interesting.

. May 6th at approx 8:45

The djs were talking with David Cross (Men in Black) who was on the poker show with Stapp back in ...whenever it was.

they began talking about how annoying it was that he had to do late shows and then go on the air to talk to djs early the next morning. The DJs were joking and saying that it couldnt be that bad.

Cross says ...the only thing worse is having to put up with Scott Stapp on the poker show I was on. He went on to say that he was never a fan of Creed's- pod's Evanesence... music but that was neither here nor there. He said that when he went on the show that it was unbelieveable to him how *no one*- from the makeup ladies to the production assistants who could work with the guy.

Cross went on to describe how that he followed Stapp from the chair in makeup to the table itself...and that no matter who it was that worked with him...there was not one person who had anything good to say about the man, and that he treated everyone like crap.

The djs went on to say that they had heard the same thing but they didnt know. Cross said, 'well, its true...he;s a...well, I cant say what he is because I dont want you guys to get (fined for him swearing) but he's a ---------!

They went on to talk about other things...but I was amazed at how many times they *kept *coming *back *to *Stapp... and Cross would just go into another example of what a jerk he was.

I have to tell you all here- this is where I was almost in tears and almost hit a pole...just to hear him ripped to shreds....and not only that....that perhaps I have had rose colored glasses on...that maybe he is not a very nice person. I always try to see the good and humor you know?

(no matter what that drama quees says, I do have a heart- the drama queen is the one who cannot take things into context, ...)

Anyway, the djs asked if they say Stapp do any coke or was he drinking because they had heard that he was a big drunk now.

Cross said that he was drinking ...but they all were and that you couldnt really tell too much because Stapp had this ***enormous possee *** with him. Cross was like

"Its a poker show for charity , not a club!!!"

" He said that none of them had a possee with them on the show and it just made Stapp seem even more ridiculous because he had all these flunkies waiting on him the whole time.

It went on for about 5 minutes or so....which may seem not like alot of time...but when they are talking about your smoochable baby- it really is. I was just floored how they kept coming back to it and back to it.

-----

And this is just the tip of the iceberg as far as "bad" things that I've heard about him doing that aren't made public. I'm sorry to say (believe me, I really am because I've looked up to him for a long time and wish it wasn't this way), but he's not as real as you think. :(

14Fuel 05-07-2004 04:12 PM

Drama queen?

Julbright 05-07-2004 04:13 PM

anyone know what radio station that was???? I don't know much about that guy but he is a yahoo himself isn't he?

14Fuel 05-07-2004 04:15 PM

JulBright - Who you mean David Cross?

-Sherri

Julbright 05-07-2004 04:19 PM

Oh yes - I mean David Cross...

14Fuel 05-07-2004 04:24 PM

Yeah David Cross is kind of...............not to sound mean, but odd!

14Fuel 05-07-2004 04:25 PM

MrCreedFreakTN - you have the same birthday as Kevin Miller (drummer from Fuel - my other favortie band!) :) FYI!

Mr.CreedFreakTN 05-07-2004 04:30 PM

You know I've met Scott Stapp, he seemed pretty nice to me. He has had to go through some life changing experences, I guess that can change anyone. From having his wife tell him that when he's on tour that she slept with several guy's in his bed in his house. Also hitting him with phone, trying to get custody of their son. That's alot of pain and torment. Hopefully this is behind him now and he can concentrate on his future, and hopefully a future with Creed.

14Fuel 05-07-2004 04:34 PM

Exactly my thoughts MrCreedFreakTN! :) He's gone though a lot, I commend him for staying strong.

Bridge of Clay 05-07-2004 10:24 PM

The thing is most of the stuff Mark wrote for AB were supposed to appear on Creed's next album, according to Michael. IT MAY HAVE CHANGED though....

But if Mark is bringing shredding back to business, I wanted him to do it with Creed...they 're the reason I got into rock music.

I love Fuel. They were just here in Nashville playing at River Stages which I missed but read they are coming back this summer , which I'll see.

14Fuel 05-08-2004 02:11 AM

Glad to see a fellow Fuel fan! :) Have you checked out their message board? (Fuelies.net) It's pretty cool over there too. And yeah, they're going to be in Nashville on July 15th...........which just so happens to be my 25th birthday. A friend of mine and I were thinking of flying out for that show being that they don't do Cali. (bad experience) Long story but we decided not to...............air fare, hotel, car rental, too much money...blah blah blah! So have you seen them in concert before?

I just love your post Sherri!!! One more thing or maybe two..... how about we just support ALL of them and stop whinning. Everyone on this message board knows that Scott has a beautiful voice, Mark is a kick-ass guitarist, and Scott.P is a hell-of-a drummer, no one can dispute that, so let's just support them in whatever they decide to do. As soon as the Alterbridge CD hits the store I'm rushing out to get it; as soon as Stapp releases his solo project, or a movie....guess what? I'm rushing out to buy it or see the movie. I'm looking forward to hearing from or seeing any one of them!!!!!

........and just when I finally got my new license plate CREED **(sorry can't reveal the last 2 numbers)

No I'm sorry to say that I haven't. But I will in July. That is a fact.

Julbright 05-08-2004 09:27 AM

I absolutely support them all/both whatever - that is kinda my point. I like to whine so I will continue to do so when I need to vent a little. ;) I guess I am just saying it is hard to see Mark and Flip and Brian with a new guy. It makes my heart hurt for Stapp because that can't be easy.

JenRN 05-08-2004 10:21 AM

I feel bad about this really I do, but no one really knows what happened with them. You don't know unless you walk a mile in someones shoes, how it "really was". I have a strong love for CREED, that will be an ever burning flame in me but I hope happiness for them all. And if that means going on and doing other things... then so be it. Just like seasons in the year, so are they in our lives.... not to be philisophical or anything... but it is true. Who knows... maybe there are more great things for Stapp ahead that will go further than his music. I agree his voice gets to your soul, it did mine. But the fact remains we have to "go with the flow" no sense fighting it right?

14Fuel 05-08-2004 12:37 PM

Hey Yvonne! I'm sooooo with you on supporting them no matter what. I guess it's kinda like they're the parents and we're the kids in a divorce not knowing which parent to be mad at or which parent to like more! hahaha But we should just support ALL of them in whatever comes their way. And JenRN, you're so right. NONE of us know what happened between them. And for all we know, maybe nothing really did and they just have decided to do their own thing for a while. 3 people being together for that many years doing the same thing day after day has got to spark a change in ya. After all, they really haven't said things are surley over. So let's just cross our fingers, hope for the best for everyone and hope that we all get another Creed albumn in the future! :D Yvonne did you watch Scotty's movie "30 days until I'm famous" last night on VH1. Well, he only had like 15 words so I can't say HIS movie................but you know how us Creed fans are. He could have just walked by in the movie and I'd still call it HIS movie. hahaha He looked really good. And they picked the right lines for him too. Soooo fit him. Man, you just got your new license plate!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's ok. Once a fan...........always a fan!

14Fuel 05-08-2004 12:58 PM

Another thing is.....................

We all feel weird seeing Mark, Scott P. & Bryan without Scott S. however, Myles really is a good singer and we have to trust Mark's judgement for picking him for Alter Bridge! And if Scott S. is doing good on his own right now (which he is) then yey for them all.

Oh an Yvonne.............I still plan on getting my creed tatoo! License plate, tatoo.............support, support, support! ;)

I totally agree. All I want for all of them is to be happy and do what is best for them. Like Yvonne, I will be buying the Alter Bridge cd, Stapp's cd and if he continues to pursue his acting, I will follow that part of his career as well. Creed's lyrics and their music touched me like no other music I have ever listened to before. I think like Jen said, we just have to go with the flow and see what happens.

BTW, Welcome to CreedFeed, Sherri.:newbie:

I agree and I think that's why we're all trying to come to fruition with all this. I think it's just something new for all of us fans and it's taken a bit to digest. But honestly I think we're all seeing the good in everything LIKE THE BOYS WOULD WANT US TOO! All we can do is sit back and enjoy whatever ride they decide to take us on. *sending good energy Scott, Scott, Bryan, Mark & (yes even) Myles' way* :wiggle:

And am I getting things wrong when I say that I think Brett kinda got the short end of the stick here. Didn't he quit his band to join Creed permantly and then this whole hiatus thing happened?!?!?! Please correct me if I am wrong...................just something I had heard.

Julbright, I feel exactly the same way :( He seems to be doing well, though, at least that's how it appears in the public appearances we've seen him in lately. Maybe it will be good for them to be doing some things outside of being Creed, and then come back ready to rock us again sometime (hopefully sooner than later!)....but it DOES hurt to see all the original members except for Scott in a new band; for me it will be hard to get used to, but I will get the CD and give it a chance, simply because I love Mark's guitar genius and Flip's rockin' beat! And when Scott's CD comes out, I'll get that too, because his lyrics and awesome voice are what drew me to Creed in the first place and touched me like no other.

Actually, Creed is broken up. Michael corrected Marcos when he referred to when Michael said Creed was on hiatus months ago.

I knew Creed were going to break up ever since they refused to add Brett Hestla as their permanent bassist.

14Fuel 05-09-2004 01:24 PM

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh well that sucks! They really did breakup Trees of Wisdom? I mean, that's what I kinda figured too, I was just waiting for someone to correct me and tell me the truth. Ahhhhh the truth hurts :mad1: hahahahaha See and someone had told me that they weren't putting Brett in the place of their bassist permanantly because they wanted to see how he was working out first............and I thought that was weird. But if they had plans of breaking up, then that makes more sence. So I wonder if the "guys" still talk to Scott or not?!?!?! Scott should have Brett as HIS bassist! That would rock....................

I have heard things like that about Scott, from people I trust, but there is no reason to bash the guy on here. I would just say, since the rest of the band is together there is a reason this is happening.

Paul McCoy of 12 Stones said they were broken up.

Michael said the last time Mark and Scott talked was six months ago.

And there was a thread about the Fozzy webmaster referring to Mark Tremonti as "former CREED guitarist". Michael responded by saying "whoops".

You be the judge.

It's okay and you're welcome, Sherri. I'm very happy that you like it here and for the record, I like Fuel too.:)

Julbright 05-09-2004 11:12 PM

thanks to those who allowed me to vent. I love Tremonti and Flip and I am just as eager to get my hands on that Altered Bridge CD as the next guy. In this thread I was really more trying to articulate the oscillating feelings I get when I step back and think about all this. The fact that I love Creed and will miss that formula is a given. The fact that I support them all in the individual endeavours is a given. The fact that we may get wonderful new things from them as individuals than as Creed is a given. ASIDE from all of that - It will just continue to feel like Creed without Stapp to me. It's hard to see Myles there - not that he won't do a great job... it is just strange. And being a Stapp Mama - it wrings my heart for Stapp. that's all I am saying. Love and Success to them all!
