Rosa Parks passes away...
Story with streaming video and photos...
Rosa Parks, who helped trigger the civil rights movement in the 1950s, has died, her longtime friends told CNN. She was 92. Parks inspired the movement when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama, in December 1955. "As the mother of the new civil rights movement, [she] has left an impact not just on the nation, but on the world," said U.S. Rep. John Conyers, who met Parks during the early days of the civil rights struggle. Heaven :pimp: |
She was certainly a very special woman... ;)

Oh, wow! I remember learning about her in history class. (Yes, I did actually listen in some of my history classes!) That's sad

She had a lot of courage and conviction. R.I.P. to a very cool woman.

ay, that's very sad... she was indeed the Mother of the Civil Rights movement... an article I was reading today was describing how she wasn't merely a tired old seamstress, as she is often portrayed. she actually tried to pull a similar "stunt" in 1943. but, at any rate, her act triggered the Montgomery Bus Strike led by Dr. King, which was one of the defining moments of the Civil Rights Movement.
