yeah, my roommate showed me this story an hour or so ago. pretty crazy stuff. so that kid gets a citation for driving while unlicensed and uninsured, right? that's gotta be bookoo points on his record!

The scarry thing is, it happened in Michigan! The mother never should have allowed the kid to sit in the front seat on her lap, and never should have showed the kid how to put the keys in. She's really got herself to blame, even though she was asleep when this stuff happened.

a lot of cars don't require pressing the gas pedal if they're automatic. if you put it in Drive and take your foot off the brake, they go. that could explain why he was going so slow.
I think the mom should get fined or something for being so irresponsible. 1, the kid shouldn't be up so late. 2, she shouldn't have been showing him how it's done.

If you read the story, it says that he didn't reach the gas pedal. He just put the car into gear and let it slowly roll. And, he wasn't asleep. He knew what he was doing. Mom was at home sleeping, and thought the kid was too.
