Scary Moment at NHL Game Tonight...
 

12 minutes into the first period of tonight's Detroit vs Nashville hockey game, Detroit defenseman Jiri Fischer collasped on the bench and suffered a seizure. Word is his heart was stopped, CPR was administered, followed by the use of a defibrilator (sp?) to get his heart beating again. He was taken to a local hospital where he is now concious and talking. He appears to be "ok" ... full story here.

That was freaky. I read that he got hit in the neck with a puck or something. I hope he will be OK...,

Man, poor bastard... But I doubt if will effect Detroit's effort much. They still have a good team!

If anything it will boost the players' spirits as they will now want to win games for him, until he recovers.

<~~ that's not what Barry Melrose (an ESPN analyst) seemed to think today on SportsCenter. I guess the Wings haven't been playing well their past couple of games? He said it's gonna be hard for them to get over this. But we'll see.

On a lighter note, are you jumping on the Preds bandwagon, Steve? Because I remember at this time last year you were touting whatever minor league team plays in Milwauke... I think, anyway...

Actually, I've been a Preds fan since they started in the NHL because the Preds are affiliated with the minor league team here in Milwaukee. So I'm not really joining the bandwagon, as I've been following them for years. A bunch of the guys on the Preds lineup played here in Milwaukee in the past few years so it's really neat to see the young guys develop and now star on an NHL team. I was going to stick my Milwaukee Admirals team logo avatar up but I thought I'd shoot for something different, hence the Preds avatar :)
