Alter Bridge bassist Brian Marshall has updated on the second album courtesy alterbridgeband.net.

In his update, Marshall said “Hello everyone, glad to see you all are hanging in there. We have been in writing mode here in Orlando for some time, awaiting word on engineers/producers/labels to start recording. Looks like we are getting very close to the pre-production of our second record. We've all decided that these some 20 songs are probably the best we have ever created and if we don't get them tracked soon we will be pulling our hair out, locking the doors and beating eachother to a pulp. Just kidding of course. We have had our hands tied and anxiously await to share it with you all....until later...your 5 string friend, bringing the thunder... Brian Marshall”.


Although it will be a while before the album is released, fans can still hear two of the songs off of the new album, Come to Life and Buried Alive, on youtube.com. The band played those songs plus Ties That Bind at shows during their recent tour of Europe.

The album is still untitled and there is no release date set.

Speaking from experience...

When you go to record your album, you generally take about 30 songs with you. You either record or demo all 30 in the studio and then decide which songs go with which, and form your 11 song album. You want the diamonds, and not a bunch of filler. When my old band recorded our album, we had 22 songs, 10 of which made the cut. But those 10 were the best of the best. So, no, the new record wont have 20 songs, but it will have the best 11 or 12 that Tremonti & Co. can put out!

For the record, Stapp has plans of releasing a new CD in 2007. At least that's what his myspace said. Whether or not it gets delayed a year or two due to falling off balcony's, no one knows. :D

Anyway, it's good to know they're hard at work on the new album. Hopefully it is released by August 2007, or else it will have been 3 years since AB last released a CD. That's almost as long as it took Stapp to release his solo debut. I admit, I'm a bit impatient, but I know the new AB CD will be well worth the wait.

^ Yeah, I know. It's hard to believe that it's been so long since they released the debut CD. I still remember hearing OYE the first time(back in June/July of '04) and being so excited about the CD.

What I'm interested in is hearing how this album will sound. Heavyer or a mix? God, I hope this album helps AB seperate itself with what their former band was.

Mark posted a Merry Christmas thread over on AlterBridgeband.net and stated the new cd will have atleast 14 songs if not more. He also suggested the new label process will soon be over and the new stuff will be ours:D

Indeed, 14 would be nice. I am sick of getting ripped off with ten or eleven songs.

Of course, 14 or 14,000 won't matter much if they don't leave the BW and SMS type songs behind...

hear hear. i'd love to hear songs in the vein of Metalingus, Find the Real, The End Is Here, & the title track. I got sick of Open Your Eyes after about 20 listens, even.

no, usually bands will head into the studio w/ more than enough for a single album, and some of it ends up getting scrapped.... others eventually become b-sides on singles...

04/02/07 - Alter Bridge Music news from Michael Tremonti on the ABB.net BB

What's up Alter Bridge Nation!!! I thought that I would give you an update on how things are progressing. First, I would like for everyone to read the post entitled Alter Bridge Acoustic Live Charity Event. It contains the details and ticket info for a live acoustic show on May 4th. Purchase tickets and be one of the first to hear new Alter Bridge songs! Next, on to the new album news.... the band has finished the Nashville portion of the recording process. Right now, all the equipment is being moved to a studio on a beach in Virginia. Drums, bass and most of the guitar work has been finished. Mark still has a couple solos and a few odds and ends to finish. Almost all of the time spent in Virginia will be on Myles' vocals. The negotiations with Alter Bridge's new label are coming along great and we envision it coming to a head in the next few weeks so stay tuned. And finally, the songs.... you are going to be blown away! No shit! When I got down to Nashville, I thought I had a pretty good idea of how the songs would be shaping up. I was wrong. The pre-production versions of the songs were very different, in some cases, than the demos that I had heard. For example, Buried Alive. Throw away the old, live versions all of you have of the song or keep it as a memento. The new version is a fucking monster! There is also a song being recorded that I did not even know existed until I got to Nashville. Another lyrical home run by Myles along with soaring melodies. Myles actually sang it for me acoustic the night I got there and I was covered in goose bumps. So I say again... you all have no idea what is going to be unleashed upon you later this year. Hell, I thought I knew and I did not. I'll update all of you again as soon as new news becomes available.

hopefully the record label they get will not get too controlling and tell them to change there music...hopefully we can here the music soon no later than this fall or winter..

According to Michael Tremonti he posted on ABB.net that the band is in NY working on final mixes and is supposed to meet and sign with the new label.

Yeah they are mixing a song a day I heard. The new album is coming very soon it's going to be awesome.

Michael just put an update on the alter bridge forums. The band is done mixing and the press release should be coming soon.
