Least favorite Creed song???

I know we all love Creed, but everyone has that one song that they'll skip over occasionally on one of the albums. I still like all the songs, but there are a few weaker ones that stand out to me, surprisingly none from Weathered.

Here are a few (in my opinion):

Unforgiven
Wrong Way
Never Die
Inside Us All

and my least favorite... Sister

What's your least favorite Creed song?

JulieCitySlicker 06-07-2004 06:44 PM

Lullaby

Hell no, not for me. There is not one song that I don't love, and I never skip songs on any of the CD's. Lullaby was a disapointment for the last song on Weathered, yes, but that has grown on me hugley, and I love that song now. But no, theres not one song that I skip or get sick off.

That's why they are my favourite band...

WeatheredWoman 06-07-2004 07:19 PM

I have to go with you Hayley on Lullabye! I love that song too... :D

I only have one song of CREED that annoys me... "Sister"...it still hasn't "grow" on me... and I bet it never will!! :o

It's a lovely song, I wouldn't say one of my favourite Creed songs, but still nice.

  Why don't you like it? (And Hellboy, why don't you like it either?) Sister is one of my favourites off MOP, but I guess we all have different opinions.

ibleedpurple 06-07-2004 07:34 PM

I've never understood how anyone can dislike Sister. It was always one of my favorites to just blast while I was driving into Minneapolis... \m/

I feel the same way, Hayley. :)

I've always loved Sister although I know a lot of people don't like it. But when I heard the lyrics to that song, it was like they wrote it for me. It described how I felt when I was younger and how I'm grateful I've changed since then. So for me, it has a special place in my heart.

hayley 06-07-2004 07:39 PM

Wow, that's cool Sheila that Sister did that for you. The reason I love Sister is because of Flip, maily. :D I don't relate to the lyrics of Sister, but the musical side warms me.

Rune 06-07-2004 07:42 PM

The song that took the longest to grow on me was Illusion. I don't know why, i don't necessarily dislike it, i just never found myself in the mood to listen to it.

Never Die wasn't really one of my favorites, but it's really hard to pick out a song from Creed that i flat out don't like, it's really just certain songs that i don't like as much when put up against the rest.

Overall i don't think Creed has any "bad" songs, just some songs don't measure up in comparison to others, which happens with any band i would think. (and it's also personal opinion as well as you can see from reading all the posts above mine)

Sheila63 06-07-2004 07:43 PM

Thanks, Hayley. :D Yeah, I was extremely shy and afraid to express how I felt when I was younger so when I heard the lyrics "bottled up and empty, holdin' back" I was like, he's singing about me, LOL. I enjoy the music in the song too.

Cool, that's awesome. So many other Creed songs make me feel like that, like I am apart of the song, and I can relate, but just not with Sister.

Yeah, I feel like it is a different kind of Creed. Just the music has a different feeling to it than other songs.

Torn Daredevil 06-07-2004 08:01 PM

I swear the beginning of "Sister" sounds like an Irish drinking song.

But, in all seriousness, the song kind of annoys me. The song doesn't seem to know what kind of theme it's going for, melodically or lyrically.

For me, the melody just is not very distinct and shifts around too much. And the lyrics are meaningless except to a small number of people.

I think "Pity for a Dime" is one of the most underrated Creed songs ever. That is an awesome song!!!

WeatheredWoman 06-07-2004 08:16 PM

:o too! LOL!!!

I do like the drumming apart of everything else in Sister... but I don't like how Scott's singing.
Especially the "repeat-parts" they annoy me so bad. The melody of the "whining" ...nanananaaa nanananaaa... eww! :o

Caught up in the middle
Had no choice, had no choice
Birthright forgotten, so silent
No voice
I see you
You know who
Little girl, little girl
Now realize little girl
Overlooked little girl
etc.

You know what I mean??? I was so badly surprised when I heard this song for the first time... I thought the CD-player had turned to another CD hahaha...

Steve 06-07-2004 09:10 PM

I don't like the Blue Collar version of Sister... the lyrics for the chorus are different and it kinda sucks to me. I like the newer version of Sister better.

Shadow 06-07-2004 09:15 PM

I love all the songs as well. However, certain versions are better then others.

A few examples:

Unforgiven is an okay song, but live it is awesome.

Weathered, I don't care that much for the album version - but I LOVE the acoustic version.

Ode, same thing, don't care for the album version but LOVE the acoustic version.

Torn is another one - I usually only listen to the acoustic version.

My list can go on and on. Overall, like I said, love all of the songs.

OMG, I forgot all about BC versions. I prefer the BC version of One over the regular version.

Kim V. 06-07-2004 09:18 PM

I'd have to say that I don't really have any Creed songs that I don't like; I never skip any and always listen to the CD's all the way through. The only one I kind of could, skip, that is, is what my kids and I call the "yeah yeah song", LOL (Wrong Way) because of how many times Scott says, yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah...but the lyrics are fantastic....What if I died, what did I give? I hope it was an answer so you might live....I hope I helped you live.

creedlvr 06-07-2004 09:20 PM

Sister is definitely my least favorite.

But thats a good thing! The song covers different types of rock, and just in that one song. It's a very diverse song, but thats a good thing.

I have always loved Sister, I guess because as others have said the lyrics relate to me but I also love the music.

I don't really have a least favourite song, but the songs that took the longest to grow on me were Illusion and Unforgiven, I think these are much better live and i really only fully appreciated these songs untill after I had heard the live versions, these are now some of my favourites.

Creed_Defaultgirl 06-08-2004 02:44 AM

I don't really care for Sister as much as some of the others, but I love them all!

Sister is a brilliant song, one of my favourites on MOP...
The least favourite by album...

My Own Prison - Unforgiven

Human Clay - Never DIe

Weathered - Lullaby

Julbright 06-08-2004 10:57 AM

I am surprised at how many don't like lullaby! I guess it is personal for me - thinking of him singing that to Jagger - I sing it to my kids - love it. Sister and Wash away those years - not my favorites. I think I like them both lyrically but like someone said previously I am just never in the mood to listen to them - I seem to always skip them.

Jooji_2 06-08-2004 01:37 PM

There are some I like better than others....but none that I skip over.... :D

ggp2004 06-08-2004 01:37 PM

I love Lullaby, well, I love all Creed. But if I had to pick one I would say Weathered. It sounds too country to me, not that there is anything wrong with country, I just don't like it.

Weathered, country? Thats a first, I have never heard anyone say Weathered sounded country before!

Jooji_2 06-08-2004 05:15 PM

I've heard Weathered described as having a Southern Rock type of sound....but not country. :D

hayley 06-08-2004 05:16 PM

What's Southern Rock?

I like Lullaby!!! And it's fun to play on guitar!

I agree, Julbright! I like to imagine him singing that to Jagger too. Kind of goes along the lines of what Scott said at the NYE show, how our children are supposed to be learning from us, when in fact, we wind up learning things from our children alot. "If there's one thing I hope I showed you"....then later....."I know there's one thing that you showed me"....Just give love to all..... :)

I would have to say Lullaby. I actually copied Weathered and left that one off :D...

Wow X, I'm surprised Inside Us All is your favorite. It's one of mine too. However, I picture you to be more into the Bullets and Freedom Fighter songs.

70's Southern Rock would be bands such as The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd (that's the correct spelling...the weird y's are a reference to the band the Byrds), The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet and .38 Special. What was distinctive about it was what was called a "three guitar sound".

Duane Allman once said...."the term Southern Rock is redundant. Rock was born in the South, so saying Southern Rock is like saying Rock Rock."

Put the term Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in your search engine.....then look at some of the people who have been inducted...especially the early performers....notice where they all came from....grew up.

Current examples of Southern Rock would be the Black Crowes, (though they are no longer together as a band), and a band called Drive By Truckers.

If you dont' know what Southern Rock is, you probably haven't listened to it. Try listening to some of the first bands I mentioned....especially Skynyrd.....all the songs tell a story. And since this a place to discuss music and what people like and dislike.....what makes Southern Rock.....BAD. The fact that it comes from the South.....the people who play it.......? I'm not trying to pick an argument.....I'm just curious to know why. :D

Jooji_2 06-09-2004 05:15 PM

P.s...........

Regarding the song Lullaby. I've actually seen people say it had no place on a rock album...like there is some line that got crossed there. Geez people....its barely a minute long.....its not like they were gonna release it as a single. :D

I think I have heard some Lynard Skynyrd, the name rings a bell.
