Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
Managed to download the leaked album last night, anyone else got hold of it yet? I think it will take a while to grow on me, had a few listens of it. You Know What You Are, Right Where It Belongs, Getting Smaller and Every Day Is Exactly The Same are my favourites so far.
While at first it doenst seem as good as previous releases, I think it will grow on me more I listen. Cant wait to see the new songs performed live!! |
i'll resist the urge to download the rest of the album as i already downloaded one song. i'll buy the album when it comes out....speaking of which when is it released again?
|
May 2nd in Australia.

okay cool i'll highly consider that to be the next album i pick up...... |
Its fucking great, still listening to it!
|
I downloaded it, too, and I'm really liking it! It's weird, at first it sounded a little stock and what-not, but the more I listen to it the more I discover. I have three bootlegs with some of the new stuff performed and it sounds awesome live, especially You Know What You Are.
I love that one and my other favorites so far are Only, All the Love in the World, Right Where It Belongs, Every Day Is Exactly the Same and Love Is Not Enough. The lyrics seem a tad cliche and redundant in some parts, but overall, I'm really digging it. The man can write a catchy hook. I've had All the Love in the World stuck in my head since yesterday, hehehe. I really like the piano and drumming throughout this album. The only songs I'm not crazy about are the single and Beside You In Time. That last one has potential, but it's so repetitive at the outset and it takes too long to get to the best part, which is about the last minute of the song. |
Yeah Beside You In Time hasnt grown on me as of yet, takes too long to get going. Loving The Collector today! Overall I still dont think it will reach the heights of The Downward Spiral or The Fragile, but a good album none the less.
|
I'm loving Sunspots. That has such a cool bass line. And I like the lyrics in that one. Beside You In Time starts off OK, but it does take forever to get going. I don't know, it's just not that engaging of a song for me. The Collector isn't one of my favorites, but I don't hate it or anything. I haven't skipped any of the songs yet, so that's a good sign, as I've been listening to it every day :D.
|
So, Muad'Dib, did you get your official copy yesterday? I had preordered the dual disc. I haven't checked out the DVD stuff. I'm a little disappointed there's no booklet with lyrics and liner notes, though. You apparently have to go to nin.com for a PDF of all the words. What sucks is, I don't have a printer...boooo.
|
i can half-understand not having lyrics but why not liner notes? i'll have to get this at some stage but i must force myself no more albums for another month! lol

Not til next week heh! Cant afford it this week :( Have you looked at the PDF? Ive seen screenshots, looks like alot of interesting stuff, hidden songs and all. My opinion of the album has lowered though to be honest. Its nowhere near as good as his other stuff, but alot better then the shit out there now by other artists. Ill still buy it, just dont think it will grow on me as much as the others did. I can see why its different though with Reznor being much happier and all the music was bound to be a change from previous albums. |
No, I haven't looked at the PDF yet. Hidden songs? I did check out the DVD stuff later and it was OK. They have the THTF video, clips of other videos and songs from the Body of Work category that is set up like the one on nin.com and the whole album in surround sound (which I don't have) or stereo on the DVD side. They also have remixes of THTF.
I was hoping for more video stuff, but alas, no such luck. There is probably a bunch of hidden stuff that I'm too clueless to find, hehehe. This album is definitely a departure from his other stuff, but I'm still really enjoying it. I see what you mean, though, about his coming from a happier place and thus, the music is different. I think it would be lame of him to try to force something that wasn't there, so if it's honest, that's good. A lot of people thought he was forcing things on The Fragile, but given what he's now saying about his life back then, it seems pretty real. I know that one didn't do as well commercially, but I really like it. I think it was Maynard from Tool who said if you can't heal from writing music, what's the point? |
Yeah I can understand the approach hes taken with the album. I mean its been 5 years since NIN was last in the spotlight, suppose he needed something more accessible that will get him on radio, MTV more.
Your right bout forcing something that wasnt there. There is still alot of the trademark NIN in the songs, just dont think musically it stands up well as compared to others. |
That may be, but damn, there's some catchy stuff on there. I think the music sounds peppier or happier or something, maybe lighter in mood. I heard tonight that they did Every Day Is Exactly The Same for the first time. I think the show was in Colorado. This guy on another board also said they did SIN!!!! *megadrool* and Something I Can Never Have! I'm glad he's adding some more of the newer stuff. I really want to hear Sunspots live. I think that would kick ass.
|
Yeah I dont mind Sunspots, from there on in the album I love. Id love to see The Fragile, Heresy and Into The Void played live, some of my favourites!
|
Heresy and Ruiner would rule! I often hit repeat from Sunspots on to the end. Even Beside You In Time is growing on me :D.

HOLY F*CKING SHIT!!!!! WHAT AN AWESOME SHOW!!!!!
I just got back from NIN...I'm still pumped beyond words and wired for sound....Unbelievable set list for me. I'm lame at remembering the order and what not, but they opened with The Frail/The Wretched and I was already out of my freakin mind!!! Here's what else I can remember: You Know What You Are March of the Pigs Piggy (during which Trent crowd surfed and had people singing the nothing-can-stop-me-now part at the end REPTILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Line Begins to Blur The Big Comedown!!!! Even Deeper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, You Don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Day the World Went Away!!!!!! Wish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gave Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! Closer Hurt (f*cking beeeeeautiful) The Hand That Feeds Starfuckers Inc. Head Like a Hole I know I'm forgetting some, but man, I can't WAIT FOR THE FALL TOUR!!!!! Trent barely spoke, save for maybe two Thank Yous . He was having mic problems throughout the night and was pretty freakin pissed from what I could see. He threw his guitar twice toward the back of the stage and several microphone stands. During Head Like a Hole, the mic went out again, and he flipped out, stomped around, smashed things up, knocked over speakers and screamed "Something's going to get BROKEN!!!" The audience practically sang the whole song, anyway, along with Jeordie and Aaron, while Trent tried to get a mic that worked. He looked really pissed. I was standing about three people back from the rail way off on Jeordie's side to avoid the craziness in the pit, so I had a really good view. Despite the technical problems, it was fucking tight and I had a monster time. I'm sooooooooo SPENT! I wish I could go to more shows on this leg of the tour!!!!! Trent must sweat off 10 pounds every show. He was DRENCHED! *edit* I forgot Terrible Lie and Suck!!! I was out of mind for Terrible Lie and Closer had the part from The Only Time during the instrumental part. It was bad-ass. |
Haha! Sounds like heaps of fun. Unfortunately for me NIN is only touring Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney :( Once again Perth misses out on something good.
|
I'm thinking of part with my hard-earned and going and seeing Trent and the rest of the band in August. Probably going to set me back $80.00 or so. If I can find someone to go with, I just might go.
|
Muad'Dib, it was BAD-ASS!!! I'm sure they'll come back around for the *bigger tour*. This was in a fairly small place, and I'll probably get seats for the next one instead of trying for the front with thousands of others. That sucks that Trent & Co. aren't coming your way :(
Hide, part with the coin. You so won't be disappointed! And go even if you go solo. I went by myself and still managed to meet some nice people who let me hang out with them. Concerts are like that. People love talking music and it's easy to get comfortable. DO IT! |
Quote:
i'll certainly think long and hard about it and i want to go, but i'm a bit uncertain about hitting a gig without a "concert buddy". i did see VR on my lonesome (alhtough i did meet someone from the PJ board before the concert for a drink) and i had a good time but nothing beats sharing a concert with a good mate. you're not the first person to say how good they are live, i would really love to be there. need to find someone......*thinks of someone* |
I agree it's more fun with your favorite concert buddy, but it's not worth missing a good show just because you have to go solo... /end preachy speech:D
Now go, dammit ;) |
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa you so cool i for one love going with out buddys :) i likes to do my own thing ya,lls :jam: :jam: :jam:
|
GO!!!!! Dont dissapoint me :)
|
Quote:
yes mum.....i'll go and clean my room now. no i haven't put the rubbish out! ;) |
:D...hehehe...I couldn't help myself. You simply must go, that is all.
|
For y'all you can download NIN video here:
UrBaNcHaOsViDeOs and on the bottom of the page click download and scroll down till you find NIN video "The Hand that Feeds" |
|
I know, doesn't that suck??? I HATE empt(v)...blech...Trent also won his against his former manager, John Malm...He could get 3 million, or double that, and Malm could end up bankrupt. He won on every count, apparently.
|
I didn't realise this before but there is an AB connection to NIN.....let me explain. Keyboardist Alessandro Cortini comes from Modwheelmood but played guitar in The Mayfield Four after the previous guitarist left/got fired. Small world......who would have thought?
|
Wow, I didn't know that. Very cool. Alessandro was kick-ass at the show, too.
|
I had no idea either, until I read an article on NIN and I knew that name sounded familiar. I'm surprised plummer hasen't told us..........
|
So I found a mate to go with so I'll be seeing NIN on August the 17th! :)
woohoooo! :) |

yep should be a full-on show! :) sounds like you had a great time and NIN have a great reputation as far as putting as putting on a show is concerned. :) |
Oh, I did have a most excellent time. I can't wait to see them again. Do you have the And All That Could Have Been DVD? That will give you a taste of live Trent. It's reeeeeally good!
|
No I don't have it but others have said its really good! :) There is no supporting act listed on the ticket but they'll probably have a supporting act. Who supported them in Philly?
|
Get that DVD if you can. I love it! The Dresden Dolls supported NIN in Philly and they were really good. I ended up buying their live CD, as a friend had burned me their studio CD. They are a two-piece band. The woman plays the keyboards and sings and the guy plays drums and guitar. They sort of dress up like cabaret people. The coolest thing they did was a cover of War Pigs! And it was actually good, LOL...I was surprised.
|
okay i'll put it on my list but considering i bought a couple of tickets to see them i don't want to spend too much more money on music in the next month or so.
|
It's kind of different, but it cool at the same time. They had a lot of fans at the show I went to. I saw/heard people singing along to their music. Don't forget to save enough money for a t-shirt :D
