You sure? I thought it was only somewhere around 6 mil (according to Billboard, it's 6x Platinum, meaning it's sold over 6 million copies in the US; as HC is, I believe, 12x Platinum according to Billboard, I would have to guess that this list is US-only?... meaning, MOP wouldn't have the 10 million or so it's probably sold overall but, instead, roughly 6 million).

Alter Shredder 01-01-2004 11:19 PM

Weathered is 6x but like a year ago creed announced My Own Prison at 10 million, i thought that was U.S. but it could have been for the whole world

Dogstar 01-02-2004 01:06 AM

I thought it was Weathered 8x and MOP 6x, but I could be wrong. The 10x for MOP might be worldwide.

I did some research and you have it correct Dogstar.

and Weathered would have sold many more worldwide compared to MOP, Creed really didn't break through on a massive scale until Higher hit the airwaves!

I've seen that list before, its not a good sign of the public taste but at least some of those albums were good!

RMadd 01-09-2004 11:31 PM

I've gotta say I only like #s 6 and 7.

Alter Shredder 01-09-2004 11:46 PM

Another prblem with this list, Hootie and the blowfish went 16x platinum with cracked rear view, which would place it at the top of the list. But maybe they dont count all of the artists, who knows?

jango 01-10-2004 01:23 AM

The ACTUAL top ten via the RIAA:

1. Eagles - Greatest Hits 71-75 28x Platinum
2. Michael Jackson - Thriller 26x
3. Pink Floyd - The Wall 23x
4. Led Zeppelin - IV 22x
5. Bill Joel - Greatest Hits Vols. 1 & 2 21x
6. Beatles - The Beatles (White) 19x
7. AC/DC - Back in Black 19x
8. Shania Twain - Come on Over 19x
9. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours 19x
10. Whitney Houston - Bodyguard Sdtk 17x

...

50. Pearl Jam - Ten

...

88. Creed - Human Clay

Yes, Jango, but remember, SoundScan only goes as far back as 1991 when it was introduced. It is not a list of the top ten of all time.

And Iced... when did Cracked Rear View come out? Was it before '91? I don't know.
