Fozzy speaking highly of Alter Bridge
one line in paricular grabbed my attention but here is the full article from their website.
"Hey everyone. Thought I'd give you a little update from my brief trip to the studios last week where FOZZY is working on the new disc. I promise you that this album is going to drop a few jaws. It's the heaviest yet from FOZZY but also has a good mix of metal, melody and some surprises for everyone.
"I flew into Atlanta on Tuesday morning and met up with [singer] CJ [Jericho] who arrived from Kansas City after the previous night's 'RAW' in Topeka. We headed directly to the studio from the airport. After a getting situated Chris went right into the vocal booth and started to lay it down. For the next 13 hours it was non-stop metal.
"Later in the evening we had the pleasure of hooking up with former CREED guitarist/songwriter Mark Tremonti who was recording in Studio A downstairs. He laid down a scorching guest lead on the song 'The Way I Am' and was ultra-cool in general. His new band ALTER BRIDGE will no doubt be another success. And don't believe the hype. Mark is a metalhead at heart and can tear it up to say the least!
"Along with Mark there are a few other amazing players who you'll hear on the disc. For example, Zakk Wylde, Marty Friedman and Rick Beato layed down the sonic fury. What? Rick Beato? Isn't he the producer? Yes, but he's also a frightening player himself. You'll have to hear it all to believe it but I can promise you that there are chops a plenty flying around the studio!
"On Wednesday the vocalizing continued. Both days were very hard work but very productive. Weds. night hip hop superstar BONE CRUSHER came to the studio to add some flavor to one of the new tracks. I know what you're thinking. Hip hop? A rapper? What? Trust me. Besides being a very cool dude and a total studio pro, he surprised everyone in the FOZZY camp with his contributions. He kicked everyone's ass (and the studio's compressors as well)! Damn that man has a powerful voice!
"I'll be putting up a little video message from CJ in the next few days or so. I can't wait for you all to hear some of this. Even in it's unmixed, unpolished, raw state it kicks ass. Rich [Ward]'s songwriting and guitar work is the best he's ever done. Even you MOJO fans will be pleasantly surprised to hear how he's come back to the altar of heaviness for this disc. As I mentioned before Frank laid down the backbone for the tracks with his usual tightness and skillful drumwork. "Sean will instantly make his mark as the best bass player yet to work with the band and Ryan (aka The Kidd) also scorched some memorable leads across several tunes. There is no weak link to be found!
"So that's about it. CJ and I left the studio at 2 a.m. Wednesday night and went right to the hotel by the airport. 2 hours of sleep later it was back to the car and on the plane back home."
