What Do You Think About OYE Video...

I just wanna know what's your opinion about OYE video. In my opinion is a normal video, good, but normal. Well, maybe the video is simple because they are in the begining. They don't wanna take any risks spending so much money in a supervideo right now. It's very intelligent do the things in this way.

Tell me what's in your mind! ;)

jammy123 07-22-2004 12:17 PM

the more times u watch the video the better it becomes, the solo rocks and myles looks gr8 and flip's doing what he does best with brian.....no problemo...i bet the video is gonna be a hit.

The Lithium 07-22-2004 12:19 PM

It totally rocks!!

GeeK_2004 07-22-2004 01:29 PM

I havent saw the video yet...

Creed_Defaultgirl 07-22-2004 03:16 PM

All I saw of the video on my computer was a few pictures, instead of a video...oh well, I'm sure I'll see it someday.

creedsister 07-22-2004 03:31 PM

i have not seen it either

Valbear 07-23-2004 12:28 AM

I guess it's going to debut on VH1 (TV) next week. My computer kept cutting out on the video. I liked it but it was very weird for me to hear Mark, Brian and Flip's very distinctive music and hear someone else's voice. I mean I heard the song before and it didn't seem Creedish, but seeing them together made it feel like Creed with some other dude.
Okay, I just downloaded it and watched it again (much clearer) and I really do like it. It was cool to see Mark singing backup and watch his fingers up close on the guitar. Myles seems to really get into his singing and I saw him throw his arms back a little bit, I wonder if the critics are going to say that he does Christ-like poses like they said Stapp did?

Of course they will, that's what critics do.

I haven't seen the video yet, but I'm sure it will be good, it will be awesome just seeing the guys again. I've only seen stills, but from what it looks like it seems pretty cool. Mmm, Brian. :D

jammy123 07-23-2004 11:36 AM

Mulletman 07-23-2004 07:23 PM

I didnt get it... I dont know if there was nothing to get or if it completely flew over my head, but I didnt get it. I mean I liked it, but its nothing.

SandMan 07-24-2004 02:47 AM

I have not seen it yet. But I am looking for it on Vh1.

Jez 07-24-2004 03:27 AM

It was ok......that's all.

ctfan 07-24-2004 11:23 AM

I didn't care for it. It's too plain.

While there were some nice shots....what bothered me the most was that all the shots were close up....nothing showing the members in a full length shot. And the fact that at one point they point the camera at Kennedy AND directly into the sun... I've been told that the close up shots are a signature of the video director.

And yeah....though he told a DJ in Seattle he wouldn't be raising his arms....he wanted to....and he did once and almost did three other times from the start to the finish.

The video is okay...not great. Though I must say that Marshall was the only one that looks like he's having any fun. Its a performance video so you don't expect to read anything into it.....but then the song doesn't say alot to me either. I didn't particularly like the location. I mean it's a forest that has been leveled and shredded....I found it a kind of sad and depressing place.

And whats with what appears to be a mannikin laying in the debris? What is that supposed to mean? I heard others talking about it....but when I watched it a second time....I actually saw what they were talking about. :wtf:

I agree with you I wanted to like it but after viewing it a few times I got the same feeling depressing. But I have to say the song is growing on me.

regarding the location i would guess that is the idea, and did you notice how the light comes in and out at the right moments? i agree that there is too much changing of the focus but it wasen't bad. i believe the director was responsible for queens of the stone age "no-one knows" which is so funny. he did almost strike the post which if found hilarious! :D

Shadow 07-26-2004 07:04 AM

I think it's just like when the single came out - we were waiting and waiting and the anticipation just ruined it. Maybe it will be different actually seeing it on TV (on VH1) instead of just a computer screen.

So what's with that mannikin??? Now I'm curious... haven't seen that mannikin yet! :dunno:

To be quite honest... I didn't expected much from the vid. Just because they were making it so clear that it's mostly about the music... that's what the vid shows imo! Very plain indeed...

It's basicly just your eyes playing tricks on you after taking in subconcious hints from other people.

I have it in a format where I can view it in slow motion and frame by frame , and trust me when I say that there is NO DEAD BOY or MANEQUIN aywhere in this video. It's a play of light on the branches. That's all. Nothing more.

WeatheredWoman 07-26-2004 10:58 PM

Thnx so much for clearing that up Stace... :D

I thought it was me... I didn't see anything like it too!

aussiecreeder 07-27-2004 09:59 AM

thanks stace, didn't think i saw anything like that! admitting that the reviews have come from people who were already fans but the reviews for ODR have being FANTASTIC!

cariocawlad 07-27-2004 11:11 AM

Well I juts read in some replies that people dědn't see the video yet because Dial-up conections. You can solve the problem downloading the video in the non-version flash of Alterbridge.com.

Just go to the video menu and click with the right button on the Download link. Then select "save target as..." and you start the download of OYE video.

Hope I help you. Sorry for my bad english. :D

Xterminator27 07-27-2004 11:58 AM

The video sucks, Its just them in the trees singing.

Epecially for such a "deep" song, i would have though it would have kicked ass like my sacrifice or WAWO, or mayby i just have to high expectaions.

The song rules though

JenRN 07-30-2004 08:49 AM

I have seen it on VH1 alot lately.... and I LOVE IT!!! I am quite impressed with the music and think that Myles has a GREAT voice...... he can cary high and low tones and I think he fits in great. Marks guitar solo towards the end....WOW... it is about time he gets some spotlight, sounded awesome. I can't wait until the CD comes out  The music rocked just like I thought it would.... I am grateful to have 5 channels of VH1 so my chances of seeing the video is high!

Shadow 07-31-2004 09:12 AM

I just saw it. It premiered at No. 20 on the VH1 countdown.

My opinion:

1) They need Scott

2) Mark, Flip and Brian looked great and sounded great

3) I can't look at Myles. I just don't care for him.

4) The song still doesn't do for me what Creed's songs did.

5) I don't understand the meaning of the video (is there one?)

6) Myles doesn't have the "presence" that Scott has.

He looks like a cross between a monkey and Chad Kroeger. When I first saw the OWE video on VH1 it was after the new Nickelback song. Hehe, monkey boy....I'm sorry. [oooh oooh - aaah aaaaaah!]

Do we share feelings? This is so weird because I totally agree with you about everything you said.

I like Nickelback. But, I can't look at Chad either.

I honestly am trying to like Alter Bridge. I want to give them a chance because of my love for Creed.

I'm sorry, but they just haven't struck a chord with me yet.

Sheila63 07-31-2004 12:22 PM

I saw the video for the first time this morning and the song is growing on me and Mark's guitar solo is phenomenal as always!! I like Myles' voice but I'm not even going to compare his voice to Scott's because they are totally different. I have to admit, it made me a little sad seeing them all together without Scott. :( Don't get me wrong, I've come to terms with the break up and wish all of them the best, it's just going to take some time to get used to seeing them without Stapp.

I know exactly what you mean Sheila. It's kind of like you were expecting to see Scott with them.

But, you know what, I think after we hear Scott's song - we'll feel differently. But, that's another topic in another thread. :D

First of all, if you truly are "trying" to like AB, you'll have to let go of the feelings you have/had about Creed. This isn't Creed and won't take their place. Ever. Nothing any of the individual members does is going to replace what we (generally speaking) felt for that band and their music. If you'll stop trying to compare the two, you'll probably find it a little easier to enjoy the new music.

As for the disdain you hold for Myles...again, I think you're trying to view him as a replacement for Stapp, someone you truly admire and miss seeing. Now that he has new material coming out, you'll be able to hear his voice and see his face. Maybe you'll then be able to let go of the need to compare Myles to Scott and just see him for who he is....a very talented vocalist and all around nice guy.

Four of the six points you made were keeping with trying to compare AB to Creed in some form. I believe that as long as you continue to try to make AB "size-up" to this band that you (we) have held in such high regard, you'll never be happy about the music they put out. Obviously, Mark, Scott, and Brian looked and sounded great because they are happy about the music they are making with Myles. If we could all just enjoy the material like they do and quit trying to draw comparisons, we might have a little easier go of it and be able to end some of the feuding over who's going to fare better.

Sorry for the essay-type post.

Mulletman 08-02-2004 12:56 AM

You'r point is a valid one, very true and respectable but its actually what I had/have for the band that is making me [probably more] still wanting badly to like the new band.

You are right, this won't take Creed's place. I'm not trying to compare. I'm really not enjoying the music. If it wasn't Mark/Flip/Brian, I wouldn't even be listening to it. The lyrics are just "there".

I've been over Creed for a while. They are my favorite band, but after hearing Scott's song over the weekend, I realized that as long as we still have him out there creating music - life is just fine without Creed. I did't feel that way after hearing AB.

Nobody compares to Scott....NOBODY. There is nobody in Scott's league as far as his passionate singing, the lyrics, the beautiful voice. Scott has incredible stage presence. I'm sorry, but IMO, Myles doesn't have that. He does nothing for me.

After hearing Scott's new song - I found out that they do need Scott. Scott does not need them. He has proven that by writing and singing an absolutely amazing song. Scott's lyrics are deep and meaningful.

Again, not trying to compare. AB's music is not "special". It doesn't stand out. Scott is what made Creed special because of his songwriting abilities.

Maybe OYE was the wrong choice for the first single.
