Stapp UK review

While I was reading our local newspaper, the Bristol Evening Post, I was surprised to find a review for The Great Divide. IMO, it's a great, accurate review - no anti/pro-Stapp BS you find in the US.

When multi-million selling, Grammy-winning, chart-topping Creed split up, the rest of the band formed Alter Bridge (who just aren't as good as Creed) and vocalist Stapp has gone solo (and is also not as good as he was with Creed).

The album, released in the States a good six months ago, starts well with Reach Out, but it can't keep up the pace.

His voice is as hard and intense as ever, his lyrics are peppered with evangelical messages, the band are good and the music is pretty pompous but not as grungy as you'd expect.

But there seems to be a lack of original ideas and, especially in Fight Song, it sometimes gets close to banal.

Justify started well but didn't grow at all although the confessional words are interesting. The melodic Surround Me is a good track, The Great Divide is the anthemic single and Broken is a rather ordinary radio-friendly soft rock ballad with choir and strings.

Released: May 8
Rating 2/5

Although it only got a two, I think it's a decent review. It's great to see him getting some attention over here. I've always believed that songs like TGD, SM and Broken could do very well in the UK. Also, take note of the release date. I bet Wind-Up didn't even know it was being released that late and cancelled the tour.

Now maybe this means they will ship more copies of his album to the UK..
I only ever found 2 copies of his cd in my local HMV for £28.99..

28.99!!:wtf:

I haven't seen any....I had to get mine imported through Amazon. Hopefully, this means more copies will be shipped in. I also hope that it means a bigger tour the next time he decides he wants to come over here.

:wtf: I can't understand that AB isn't as big as Creed was but I think they are better. :D Good review nonetheless

Stapp will inevitably do an international tour. When he does he'll come to Europe. When he comes to Europe he's bound to come to the UK.
