Your first car

Just curious what everyone's first car was? Mine was a 77 Monte Carlo a V8 with lots of BALLS!!!!!! I think that is where I got the taste for SPEED! I remember having a tape player put in it and thinking Ahhhhh this is the life, and listening to Zeppelin etc... I saw a picture of it today and it brought back so many memories;)

PaulMcCoygirl 04-28-2003 11:16 PM

well I know my first car will either be a Rav-4 or a Honda CR-V. I either want them in black, Maroon, or Royal Blue :)

JenRN 04-28-2003 11:18 PM

That's a nice first car!:D

PaulMcCoygirl 04-28-2003 11:19 PM

yuppers, and it would even be nicer with a CD player in it to play my Creed! :D

PaulMcCoygirl 04-28-2003 11:20 PM

The reason why I want those cars is because I'm only 5'0 and those seem like the perfect size cars for me.

JulieCitySlicker 04-28-2003 11:46 PM

I can't drive so I have never owned a car:(

Higher_Desire 04-29-2003 12:21 AM

My first is the one I still drive. It is a white 1991 Chevy S-10 Pickup with king-cab. It has almost 170,000 miles on it, and needs a new engine soon. There is also some pressure imbalance or something because my PVC valve keeps poping out of the carburator. If anyone has any advise on how to stop it, let me know. But, she's my baby and I love her. She gives me more lovin' than any one else ever has. Sad, isn't it.

Hey, PaulMcCoyGirl -- I'm going to see GC w/ NFG, Stretch Armstrong, and MxPx in Boise May 28th!

TeriB19 04-29-2003 05:51 AM

My first car was a '77 Chevy Vega that my mom bought for me from a farmer in a field somewhere. Once it was all cleaned up and ready to go, I still usually had to stick a pencil in the carburetor to keep it open to get it to start. My second car was a '74 Buick Skylark (I think it was '74) that was a manual transmission that at one point got STUCK in reverse, and then later would NOT go in reverse. Ahh, such fond memories:vomit:.

JenRN 04-29-2003 08:53 AM

LOL Teri, I can just see you with a pencil in the carburator:lol: Those 70's cars were just great hugh?;) Your mom bought it out of a field, that is freakin hilarious!:D :D I remember being 17 and brely able to reach the pedals because this car was so freakin big, I had the seat up ALL THE WAY!!!!:embarass:

HigherGirl 04-29-2003 10:59 AM

Ha HA...
My first car was a Plymouth Reliant..I'm not even sure if they make those anymore...It was a pretty shade of blue, a nice running car..except it only had a RADIO...No tape player, nothin!!!
and the speakers were sucky!!! I blew out the first speaker about a week after I had it..

hotforscott 04-29-2003 11:23 AM

Mine was a 95 Chevy Cavalier, I got it when I turned 16. Even though it was brand new, those things are a peice.

The Lithium 04-29-2003 11:48 AM

First car???? I've never had a car....I am ONLY 14 (years old)...

That is too funny, Teri!!

I got my first car when I was a little older, when I was 22. It was a beige Ford Escort. I was so happy to have my own car, it gave me a sense of freedom I never had before. The car was nothing special although it did have a tape player and air conditioning. It was a demo car and a lemon because I didn't have it very long and I had to get the head gasket replaced on it. Even back then, that was around $1000!! Needless to say, I didn't have it for long 'cause I would have ended up putting more money into it then it was worth!:P

marlsy 04-29-2003 12:07 PM

My first car my mom bought me when I was 17, it was a 1974 Grey Toyota Celica. It was in really nice shape when she got it for me and I drove that thing into the ground!!! It was so thrashed by the time I got done with it!!! A lot of great memories are in that car though!!

creedgirl99 04-29-2003 04:34 PM

My first car was 1990 Chevy Beretta.....I loved that car! My husband made me sell it a couple years ago....it was sad. But it ended up going to a friend, so I get to see my little car all the time!!! :) I'm silly, I know!!!!

luvscott4ever 04-29-2003 09:57 PM

My first car was 73' Plymouth Duster...God I loved that car...my little 3 speed...vroom, vroom...til I drank a little too much one Halloween nite and ran over a curb and the damn A-frame busted...think it had been broke b4 I got it...then traded that for a 69 Nova...now that car kicked some major a$$...after that comes a long list of beaters I've owned (thanx in part to my X crashing most of them) but I've had my present car for the last 7 1/2 years...I'm gonna cry the day I either run it to the ground or have to give it to my daughter and buy a new one. I LOVE MY CAR!!

goddess_bb 04-29-2003 10:33 PM

I had a '78 Pink Teebird, it was a freaking boat but I loved it. I put it in the ditch a couple of times and it was sooo big I could fit all my friends and then some...

JulieCitySlicker 04-29-2003 10:34 PM

My car is long with toes:rolleyes: Its called legs n feet:DMy car is built in;)

JulieCitySlicker 05-02-2003 05:05 PM

If they ever make Flintstone cars then I could drive:P

Sheila63 05-02-2003 05:13 PM

I'm sorry you aren't able to drive, Julie.:(

JulieCitySlicker 05-02-2003 05:14 PM

Thanks Sheila:) I'm used to the idea now. I still think that it would be cool to drive though:(

Sheila63 05-02-2003 05:19 PM

I wasn't able to get my license until I was 21 or 22 years old due to my eyesight. I wear glasses all the time because without them, everything's a blur. So I can relate to some degree. For awhile, I wasn't share if I was every going to be able to drive either. I used to get rides from other people or take the bus.

JulieCitySlicker 05-02-2003 05:24 PM

My eye doctor told me that I could drive in the day time if I get these funky weird looking glasses:rolleyes: But they cost over $1600 and I would never pay that much money for a pair of glasses:eek: They have telescopes and a bunch a funky stuff on them to:(

theseeker018 05-02-2003 05:26 PM

I got my first car a week ago today. it's a black '98 chevy S-10. It's a 5-speed so i'm learning how to drive it so i can take it around. It's nice for a first car, got a cd player and stuff like that. oh yea, it's an extended cab too.

Mulletman 05-02-2003 10:06 PM

my first car was an 86 F-150. it used to be my dad's racing truck... V12 4 barrel carb... i loved it cause it was fast and built like a battle tank. my dad didnt like me driving it cause it was for racing and regular street driving would kill it.... sure enough it did.

second car i got when i graduated from high school, a Saab 9.5 beautiful white 5-speed car... i had it up to this year. my dad was going to sell his LHS to get a new SUV and since i just fell in love with that car (plus it goes with my mafia complex) i didny let him, so i changed it with him. he got the Saab, i got the LHS. we're both happier like that. Chrysler LHS

we all call it the mafia mobile because its huge, black, loaded, tinted windows... and 3 1/2 of me (6'2" 220) fit in the trunk.

with a V8 its a fucking gas guzzler....

goddess_bb 05-03-2003 12:48 AM

Sweet Geezz...Mulletman your a BIG dude...6'2 at 220..remind me not to piss u off again..hehe:lol:

PaulMcCoygirl 05-06-2003 11:28 PM

I found out yesterday I'm getting my parents '98 Ford Explorer. It's royal blue, it doesn't have a CD player yet, but my dad said he would get me one. Has leather interior, the only thing you have to watch out for is when it gets hot outside, that leather can burn you! I think my parents are trying to get a 2002 explorer or something like that. Well I just thought I would let y'all in on the good news...:)

Mulletman 05-07-2003 10:17 AM

ive never had that problem with leather in the hot days.....

JenRN 05-07-2003 10:49 AM

I can just see Mullet in his "mafia car!" cool suave and hot to trot!:pimp: :suave:

Steve 05-07-2003 10:52 AM

My first car was an '87 Red Chevy Blazer - it had like 150,000 miles and lasted me until last Labor Day! It had its share of problems but towards the end she wouldn't keep it in park and would sometimes roll away!! The stereo didn't work in it so I bought a cheap $50 stereo + tape deck. Well, that must have been very valuable as someone broke my window while it was parked in my backyard and took it :( at least it wasn't one of those $300 stereos.

This other time I parked it at the library got out, looked at the car, it was fine, closed the door, it was fine, started to walk to the library, she started rollin'!!! LOL !!! I was chasing it with keys in hand trying to get in and hit the brake hehe. Needless to say, that was sort of dangerous so it was time to retire her.

I now have a Black 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with lots of ammeneties :D

creednmysoul 05-07-2003 01:30 PM

Ha, ha,;) I've got you all beat! My 1st car was a 1965 Burgundy Chevy Impala. I'll never forget, my Dad bought it for me for $300.00 and I thought my sh*t didn't stink.
That's when I got a job, got stupid and quit school. The only GOOD thing about it was that my hubby and I had our 1st date in that car;) (He only owned a motorcycle)
The nice thing is I now drive a 2000 Grand Prix:D Hey, I've come a long way, baby:roll:

Enjoy the Explorer, PaulMcCoygirl!! That's great of your dad to get you a cd player too.:) There's nothing like cruising down the road, the windows rolled down and some great tunes coming through the speakers!!:dancing:

LMMFAO! You are so funny, Mulletman!

My first car was a 1976 orange Datsun b210 hatchback with a black interior and only a radio! The color was hideous, but none of my friends in college minded when we all went out and I drove, LOL. I used to have to carry a case of oil in the back because it leaked like a sieve after a while. I drove that car into the ground and sold it to some kid for 500 bucks. He fixed it up and drove it for a couple of more years. It was a zippy little car, though, and fun to drive.

I swear I thought I was the only one who carried extra cans of oil in the trunk. My Vega went through a can a week. I could never get lost because all I had to do was follow the trail of oil I left behind.

Steve 05-07-2003 09:49 PM

My parents' last car was a 1989 Dodge Omni... it lasted until last year... still had the original exhaust system in it... only problem was it leaked oil (like Dogstar's car there).
