sick of looking for rare bootlegs??

Hey...

jonofj and I had this idea of starting a hub on DC++ dedicated to sharing bootlegs and live performances of Creed/Alter Birdge/Stapp and pretty much whatever else we can find to share...

I've been using DC++ lightly for the past year or so... i don't know too much about it, but from what i can gather this shouldn't be 2 hard to put together...

looking on Ares or whatever p2p clients you may use can be difficult to find what you're looking for, but this way would be much easier, as DC++ gives you a nice chat area for everyone who is signed in so if you're looking for something particular just ask if anyone's sharing it...

I don't have much to add to this as far as live performances go (i do have lots of tv shows/movies/music however which can all be shared), but i can easily share lots of files if/when it gets started, i have 310gigs of hard drive space and may even have more in the near future..

if anyone else is interested in this or knows about how DC++ works please post here with info

Steve 10-27-2005 03:17 PM

I believe with DC++ you need someone to be dedicated as a host of the server. For example, you could get a shell account on some webhost and use that to host the server.

titan9 10-27-2005 04:11 PM

I'd definitely join such a hub, as I have a lot of Creed and Alter Bridge stuff to share. I don't know who you could get to host it, though, but if it happens, let me know that I'll be a member.

HuMaN~ClAy 10-28-2005 01:12 AM

i looked into the whole DC++ thing and i found a few good links for setting up a server... but it all looks a little over my head haha...

If anyone is interested and know what they're doing with all this stuff please PM me and i'll give you the links... if you show me what to do to set it up i'll gladly host the server...

titan9 10-28-2005 07:58 AM

PM me those links. I'm by no means an expert at DC++, but I am pretty knowledgable with it, so I might be able to figure it out for you.

Steve 10-28-2005 09:56 AM

PM me the links also please :)

jammy123 10-28-2005 10:55 AM

that'll be AWSOME.. i've been waiting for something like this since ages.

RoffeDH 10-30-2005 10:27 AM

did you type www.abb.net?
It's www.alterbridgeband.net can't go wrong on that ;)

So is this shit ever coming up or not?

hhhmmm... you must have me mistaken for someone else haha... i don't even know what #myowncreed is :wtf:

and i have no idea how to work this software... if we all want this up and running i'm gonna need some help... if you wanna look into it then just google DC++ and how to set up a hub...

HuMaN~ClAy 10-30-2005 12:56 PM

-Blam!- Yea!!! hub is up!!! :jam: :jam: :jam: PM me if you need details on how to get it working... i dunno if i'm actually allowed to post the hub address and stuff here so i'll just PM it to anyone who wants it... and if you need to download DC++ then just google it, it should be easy to find.

HuMaN~ClAy 10-30-2005 05:57 PM

well.. i dunno how well this DC++ thing will work... i just had a friend log onto the hub and try downloading and stuff... the download speeds were well under 1kb/sec... but then again that could just be my fault, i'm on a university connection and it's heavily controlled by them, i can't even play xbox live without having huge amounts of lag haha... so if 2 people other than me would try this out then maybe it could be of use to other people with good connections

Dogstar 10-30-2005 06:10 PM

I've never used DC++. What format is the music in, lossy or lossless?

i dunno what those terms mean haha, but they're whatever format you have on your computer, like if i'm sharing mp3's then you'll receive them in mp3 format

Dogstar 10-30-2005 06:24 PM

OK...sorry 'bout that. Lossless is less compressed or something and thus better quality than mp3 (lossy), but the files are huge, whereas mp3 files are much smaller.

HuMaN~ClAy 10-30-2005 06:29 PM

well really there's no particular file type, and it's not just music you can share... you can share any file type imaginable... you could share your windows folder if you wanted lol

Dogstar 10-30-2005 06:40 PM

LOL, Ok...good to know.

titan9 10-30-2005 07:33 PM

PM me the link, HC, and I'll check it out tonight and tell you how fast it is.

geletmote 10-30-2005 09:08 PM

hey titan, i thought id ask you since u have made heaps of posts. Who and were was the creator of #myowncreed ? I hear he/she had a shitload of stuff??

titan9 10-31-2005 08:56 PM

Actually, to be honest, I have no idea who created the #myowncreed stuff. That's really the first I've heard of it. I haven't been frequenting Creed forums for all that long(a little over a year) so that was probably before my time. Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'm sure that someone on here knows. :)

jammy123 10-31-2005 09:24 PM

Ill be there soon aswell just need to download it..
Im not sure how it all works or what it is really..

titan9 10-31-2005 10:20 PM

I'm currently having major problems with my DC++. My bro uninstalled it today without asking, so I had to do a clean install. It worked beautifully before, but now I can't get it to work without going into passive mode. I tried to connect to the hub HC sent me, but it is refusing my connection, and I'd assume that's not because of the hub itself, but rather because of my PC/connection. I hope to fix it tomorrow.

jammy123 10-31-2005 10:48 PM

same here.....now its giving connection resufed by target machine

geletmote 11-01-2005 12:35 AM

Hey, im getting the exact same..

*** Connecting to 142.151.138.144:411...
*** Connection refused by target machine

wat do we do now?
