Actually, I think it is about his ex-wife. Lyrically it seems to fit that situation better than the Creed break-up.

I think he did hang onto it. I mean, look at the lyrics. It just seems to be more about a spousal break-up than a band break-up, based on what we know about their break-up. I can see "Fight Song" and "Reach Out" being about the Creed break-up, but not this one.

I think even when people get past bad things that have happened to them, they can still find themselves back in that not-so-good place. Some of those places inspire writing, for a number of reasons.

Actually, I think Marcos might be right. I recall this article from 2001/2002 regarding a domestic incident at Stapp's house. I think Stapp's ex supposedly hit him with something and he called the cops on her, or something to that effect. Anyway, I think it said something about her saying to him that she "&^^&%% four guys in his bed". Let me look and see if I can dig up that article again.

It almost sounds as if he's talking to himself and maybe kicking himself for some of the things he did. I could be wrong, though. Those two lines, Marcos, could mean that he can't trust himself so he's going to trust God. I don't know...just spit-balling here.
