Just a little hatchling
As I slowly find my way around this labyrinth
Some call it a game
A wiser man may call it life

Today was careers day in the old school yard
So pre-occupied with occupation
All going to be doctors, lawyers and investment bankers
Me..I'm going to be a drummer when I grow up
"Hey Billy you can't do both" they say to a raptrous applause

The jokes continue at my expense
"Hey Billy what do you call a drummer without a girlfriend?...homeless
When was the day when we arose from dreams?
We've got to live to work
Only to see your first love take half of it away

Why is it that I do what I hate and hate that I do?
And that I just can't do what I know what is right?
Seems they're a chip off the old cornerstone
But are they just like me?
Don't know where the show ends and reality begins

Another day slowing finding my way
Amongst this maze of post-modern thought

What makes me any different to these animals
That have escaped our concrete zoo?

cool thanks glad you enjoyed it and i think its so true, if we are just like all the animals why should we help the disabled, the weaker, those who refuse to help themselves and the like?
