What are some of your favorite movies?

JenRN

I am a bit of a movie junkie and have tons of favorites!!! My top favorite movie would have to be "Planes Trains & Automobiles" with John Candy and Steve Martin! No matter how sad or mad I am that movie cracks me up!!!! Some of my other favorites are...

1) Almost Famous
2) Forrest Gump
3) Fried Green Tomatoes (chick flick)
4) Titanic ( have been a titanic junkie for many years before the movie)
5) My Big Fat Greek Wedding (great flick)
6) Silence of the Lambs
7) Cast Away
8) The Patriot (Mel Gibson)

I pretty much like all Tom Hanks flicks!!! I really love movies!! Hard to narrow it down!

My all time favorite is The Breakfast Club - one of the funniest movies ever, plus Judd Nelson is HOT in this movie in a very Stapp-esque way.

Others include:

The Shawshank Redemption (2nd favorite)
The Silence of the Lambs (psychological f**k)
Forrest Gump
Fried Green Tomatoes (Tawandaaaaa!)
Raiders of the Lost Arc
An Officer and a Gentleman
Pretty Woman (who doesn't love this movie?)
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Dolly sings I Will Always Love You to Burt in this!)

There are so many others but I can't think well right now!

Planes, Trains & Automobiles is one of the funniest movies ever made. I saw that in the theatre and probably missed some funny lines from laughing so hard. One of the best parts is Steve Martin trying to get a rental car from Edie McClurg. The bedroom scene "Those aren't pillows!!!"

Anything with Tom Hanks you can just go ahead and call my favorites.

I think Denzel Washington is the best actor of this era, and Tom Hanks is a close second. However, all things being equal, I think your average Tom Hanks movie might be better than your average Denzel Washington picture. I know it doesn't seem like a natural comparison between these guys because they're so different, but it's a natural comparison in the sense that I don't think any other actors right now come quite close to these two. Morgan Freeman's pretty damned good, also.

Yeah, he's a good actor... but this new Catch me if you Can movie is really going to test my limits. Leonardo DiCaprio in ANY movie tests my limits, whether or not you have Hanks and Speilberg.

and last

" Stupid Mother Sh*tin... Son of an Ass!!!

I liked Silence of the Lambs the best, but in no way did I let that stop me from seeing Hannibal or Red Dragon. Both were great in their own right. And believe me, without giving it away, the last 5-10 minutes of Hannibal will give you nightmares if anything in Silence of the Lambs did.

Yeah Read.... The last 10 minutes of Hannibal was purely discusting!!! I like Silence of the Lambs MUCH better though, just more suspenseful and creepy, not just grewsome scenes!!!

I thought it stacked up to Silence as well as Hannibal did. I really liked all three movies, to tell you the truth. The chemistry between Hannibal and Ed Norton's character added a really cool twist, the bad dude (can't think of his name) was really f'd up, and I enjoyed the performance by the blind girl (again, can't remember the name). This one wasn't nearly as grotesque as either of the other two, but it was a solid movie in my mind.

silence was great, hannibal was too grotesque for me. i was hoping for more of a psychological thriller than some "cut-em-up" movie

I agree, I think a psychological thriller is much scarier than a blood-and-guts flick. Although the cannibalistic slant of the Hannibal Lecter films is quite freaky...I think b/c there is something very psychologically disturbing about human cannibalism.

TeriB19

I prefer the psychological thriller. I like more intelligent movies. Slasher flicks were alright when I was younger, but now they are just stupid (IMO).

Yes, people at work were making all kinds of cracks about it. Jeffrey Jones has been in a ton of stuff. Big-time character actor and he was just a scream in Ferris, along with Edie McClurg. I love when she tells him he sounded just like Dirty Harry and when she keeps pulling the pencils out of her hair, sniffing glue, when she calls Jennifer Grey a little a**hole...the list goes on.
