Little Flower

Slam the door, blue streak swear
Slap the girl, crack a beer
Silent dinner, stomach turns
Cannot swallow, anger burns

Mother cries, babies sleep
Wonders how she'll make ends meet
Stretching thin her meager pay
Hopes she can buy meat today

Little flower gone to seed
Choking on a broken dream
Trusted him to make her whole
Alone again, familiar role

Little girl she longs to please
Sidles up to Daddy's knees
Father smacks her smile away
Screams at little girl go play

Weekends drawn in smoky room
Watching movies until noon
Waiting for the show to start
Words they spear a wounded heart

Little flower gone to seed
Choking on a broken dream
Trusted him to make her whole
Alone again, unwanted role

Little girl is now a wife
Wonders how she drew this life
Fixes dinner, makes his bed
Bathes his kids, shakes her head

You need to write a book, you could make a living at your writing (I mean in addition to your writing at the paper). That was really moving.
