Lying Eyes

Ok I don't usually post here, but I felt like it this time :D. I wrote this a few days ago.


Face down on the mirror you lie
Nowhere to look but at lifeless eyes
You thought you had it all in hand
But rain always washes away the sand

You told me we'd be one someday
Though you knew that line would take you away
All you said just withered away
Like a cancer-riddled body in decay

Pictures tell a thousand lies
Worn-out smiles, lying eyes
Why I believed you, I don't know
A million reasons for saying so

So there you lie, alone in the dark
Eyes wide shut, lacking that spark
Heavy you find your head on the chair
Unable to bend, not even a hair

Your friends can't believe what it is they see
You had everything, how can this be?
Your picture stands at the box's end
Lying eyes, they do pretend.
