I USED to be a big Madonna fan, but lately I just think she is a idiot! After seeing her "European version" of American life, I feel she should stay in Europe! She has become quite political and I don't care for her antics and disrespect of our troops and president! Her music has always been OK but after seeing her in an interview and that video, that ironically she changed when released in the USA, I refuse to spend my hard earned cash on her!

I saw her on MTV and I actually liked alot of the her new stuff...I am going to buy her new album...
As far as other suggestions...
--Rob Zombie--Sinester Urge--is a great Cd
--Disturbed--Believe--
--Godsmack--

another great album is Rusted Root--it's alittle old but it awesome music...

Actually I think rigth now her stuff is pertty decent. I listened to few songs when MTV was streaming her album on theri website, and it's pretty good. Poppy but in a good way. Fairly experimental.
And about that video... well it's anti war not anti american troops video, alright? Se tries to say that war is bad, what's wrong abotu that? Just cuz American soldiers are fighting in a way (that America has started) you cannot say that war is bad? Oh come on.
Anyhow, if you're into dancy poppy, yet mature music -- go for it.

Additional suggestions? Save your money --- new Radiohead's album is out thsi June =) New Blur's album is out now, but I havent heard it yet so cant suggest it really, although their previous album was pretty deent.
What else? Get Sigur Ros -- () great great chillax/study/meditation music.

I've always liked Madonna, right now though......... I'm a bit upset with her. I wouldn't go and spend my money on her, maybe I will download it just to piss her off!! LOL What she said to France really got on my nerves. She can stay there forever and I wouldn't give a damn.

Lechium

2marlsy: What exactly did she say to France? If she simply encoureged France's poition against war... well she doesnt want war, does that make her evil lol?

marlsy
05-14-2003, 01:27 AM
Lech, she told them she is proud of them for being against the war and she said she feels more comfortable there in France than she does at home, the US............ well then, let her stay out of the US then!!! No I don't think she is evil, she just needs to shut her big mouth!! I'm sure I will get over it, she's been one of my favs for along time, just right now she's on my shit list LOL like she cares anyway.....................

Why you care about her political views? It's all about music. Do you like Rage Againt The Machine? Well they're commies lol

Shut her mouth? But but but democracy! Or do you prehaps like to live under a king or a dictator or a regime of some sort where people aren't allowed to voice their opinions?

I don't like Madonna though. Can't stand the voice, can't stand the 'music'.

Rage against the machine SUCKS! They are much better now as Audioslave, at least Chris Cornell has a little class! The music has a whole different sound, much better!

I have to disagree about RATM. I love them. I think Tom Morello is a genius with the guitar. I have to agree with Lechium on this. It's about the music. Everybody has political views we agree with or don't. Worship the music, not the musician. I like Rage for the music. And I love Audioslave, but they are in no way Rage with Cornell. It's a different dynamic, not nearly as hard-core as Rage, which is fine. They are some talented musicians who got together to form a new group, separate from their fomer groups.

As for Madonna. Never liked her music.

Rage was awesome, this is just your oppinion. Anyhow Audioslave has commies in it to, so there you go.

Who really cares any ways? I just personally can't stand thier music, it is just noise to me, not music. Audioslave well...... that is a whole different story, they are great to me, their music actually has substance, not just screaming. Like I said this is "my opinion" just like you have your on Creed etc... It is a great mix with Chris Cornell, he brings a different flavor to it, and the music rocks, goes to show you how much a lead singer can effect things!

as for Madonnas political views, having them dosn't bother me, it's the way she voices her opinion does, like it or not that's the way I feel. She does it in a distasteful way.

ummm Havn't we already had this discussion? I'm really tired of it!! It's my opinion and that's that!! LOL Noone will change my mind, just like I won't change theirs!!

I totally agree Marlsy, yes we have had this conversation with Lech SEVERAL times, like you said, it is all the way your opinion is expressed! Everyone is entitled to thier opinion, but express it like a jackass and you totally loose my respect!

Jen, your respect is last thing I'm concerned about, sorry.

P.S. Audislave is bland and boring compared to both Rage and 'Garden.

Ummm... Lechium it was not YOU I was referring to any ways? Why do you think everything revolves around you any ways? I was referring to the band Rage Against the Machine and Madonna GEEZ!!!!!!

I LOVED Soundgarden, just hated Rage:rolleyes:

2TeriB19: Actually this board revolves around you

Aimee
05-16-2003, 07:43 PM
Yes, Lech, yes it does revolve around TeriB. And for good reason too. She can express her opionion in a valid and non-abusive manner. Her mind is open to new views, but she doesn't mind playing devil's advocate while maintaining some class in the debate. But whatever, where would be be without the brutal honesty of the punks? In a mess of boredom, I romise you that. Don't ever change, y'all.
I didn't end up going out to shop, but I will. I want to pick up a bunch of Love and Rockets because I had to sell all of them some years ago when I was strapped for cash. They have a new one out, I've heard. Also, The Cramps and The Clash. I will probably take your suggestion, Lech and pick up Disturb's believe. WTH is sigur ros? Rusted Root is awesome. I might just have to splurge on them.
As for Madonna, I will buy her new album. I have no problem with the way she voices her opinions, even if I do not agree with all of them. I think it's a waste of time to boycott French products. Do you know how many "American" products there are that we buy every day, not even realizing that a French company owns the company? Or the brand name? I could give exapmles if you choose. By boycotting French products, we are not hurting the French economy, we are hurting the French people. Everyday, middle class folks who just want to work and get on with their lives. The moguls who own the companies don't care. They will just lay off some workers and lower wages in order to keep their cushy lifestyles. I believe there is a whole other dynamic to this debate. And what a certain singer subscribes to, (like Sinead O'Conner) has no impact on me when the effect of their music makes my hair stand on end. Rage? I fucking love Rage! Fucking commies, you say? Maybe Democratic Socialism (like Canada and Holland have) is a more progressive goal for our country now. At least it is a more honest way to remind ourselves that our government is headed that way anyway, regardless of what, "we the people" want.
But we were talking about the MUSIC weren't we?

2Aimee: If you think that Teri's open to new idea's than you havent been paying attention to her posts

P.S. Sigur Ros kinda remind's Radiohead's "Kid A" album but mellower.. meditiation/chillax music.

Lechium, could you just get off Teri's back already? It's obvious you guys will never agree, so stop belittling her. It's getting really old. She doesn't like you, and you don't like her, so get over it. We all can't like each other, but we can try to be civil to each other.

Um. I just love this. Anyone else notice TeriB's blatant absenteesism in this thread? Hm, I wonder if she even cares what Lech thinks of her personally? Lech, BTW- I may not have been around lately, so I do not know you. And I DO know Teri. But, no worries. What good are judgements in the long run anyway?

Thanks Aimee. You are 1000% correct in your assessment of my feelings about Lech and how he feels about me.

Ok- So here's what I got:
1) Madonna - American Life. It's kind of folksy and she tries a bit too hard in some respects. But she plays guitar and sings songs she wrote herself. Sweet stuff about her kids and hubby Guy. And her lyrics are full of the substance of her life.
2) Dream Theatre - Six degrees of Turbulence
3) Eminem - The Eminem Show
4) Rusted Root
5) Wyclef Jean - The Eclftic
6) The Pretenders - Get Close
7) Something Corporate - Leaving Through the Window
8) The Clash
9) Collective Soul - Dosage
10) Peter Murphy - Should the World Fail to Fall Apart
11) Stevie Nicks - Rock a Little
AND every Love & Rockets they had! Whew!

LOL, good for you. I loved used CDs as well. Half.com is also a great place to get them. I've picked up some really good stuff for as little as two or three bucks a CD.
