New U2 song just released!

So for all you U2 fans, what do u think of their newest release, 'Electrical storm.'
I think it's kickass.
I first saw it on an ad on tv for the americas cup. And i really liked the sound of it. First heard the whole thing yesterday.

I would say hard rock, almost anthemic. Some screaming guitar segments, but like a lot of U2 songs, it has its gentle parts. Bono's vocals are really on in this one, too. He kicks a**. Quite a bit of range in his voice on this one. It's a moderate tempo, I'd say.

Wow! I'm so excited to hear it. Uh oh, I'd better not get my expectations up too high cuz that usually leads to disappointment. I'll try to listen with an open ear. As usual, it'll probably take some getting use to. Music, in my experience, is like that. I'm sure most of you would agree with me. Music grows on you. It's similar to wine; it improves with age, or in this case, number of listenings (up to a point).

In some cases, yes, I think certain songs might have to grow on you. For example, when I first heard the song Weathered, I wasn't all that impressed. But the more I listen to it, the more I like it. In that song's case, it was the words that drew me in more than the music part of it. In other instances, I have flipped right away for a song or group. Yes, Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam I liked from the very first songs I heard from them. Hooked right away. So, I guess it depends on the song for me.

Right, up to a point. If you listen to something over and over again you get numb to it. If you take a break and come back awhile later, it's fresh and enjoyable again.

Yeah, i'm like that too Dogstar, alot of songs take awile to grow on you.
I was like that with weathered as well.

Weathered grew on me as well. However, for me it was the guitar riffs in the middle of the song. I was like, wow, this song jams. Interestingly, I payed more attention to it because of the guitars and then really became hooked upon getting into the lyrics.

Now, with those songs that hook you instantly, I think you would also agree that they, too, get better with more listenings. The first listening might have been inspiring, but the 3rd, 4th...10th listenings were approaching religious experiences.

LOL, there certainly are more than a few songs I never tire of. MOP is one as is Torn and Ode. Yes' Long Distance Runaround also is another. Those are songs I often hit the repeat button for.

yea i didnt like weathered too much at first either. i first fell in love with the song after i saw it used on a "WWE desire" montage. i guess i just needed to see it with some cool scenes to get it into my system.

I havent caught the entire video of electrical storm, but i saw the end of it on tv yesterday. But i really dont like that version of the song. The radio version is so much better. They should have the same version of the song for the vid, thats weird.

He is very attractive, they picked the right guy to do it. Bono is nice looking, but Larry is better to look at.
