this is a copy of an article from the Chicago Sun Times from 1/1/03...pay VERY close attention to the last paragraph:

Creed singer enrages fans

January 1, 2003

BY BILL ZWECKER SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST Advertisement

Creed may be one of the most popular bands on the planet, but the rockers--particularly lead singer Scott Stapp--really infuriated a ton of fans at Sunday's Allstate Arena concert--generating a bunch of calls and e-mails both to this column and my Sun-Times colleague, pop music critic Jim DeRogatis.

''You won't believe what went down,'' e-mailed Dan. ''Saw Creed. What a letdown! Scott Stapp [has] ... less stage presence than Ozzy [Osbourne], [he] sang flat, ran off stage three times, twice for at least five minutes, missed words, had audience singing instead. ... I had front-row seats in section 116--saw the whole franchise fall apart before my very eyes.''

Then there was this from Lore Rizzo, who bought tickets for her daughter's 18th birthday. She also reports her daughter thought Stapp was, well, possibly under the influence of something. ''At one point [he] even laid down on the stage.''

Several observers mentioned that Stapp's appearance was particularly disturbing given his frequent comments about the evils of drug and alcohol use and his strong religious roots.

''I think this was one of the worst concerts I've ever attended,'' e-mails Tom Wassman from Elgin. ''I've been a huge Creed fan for a long time, but Stapp really stunk. He sat DOWN for a big part of the concert!''

Kevin DeSanti couldn't have agreed more. ''Clearly one of the worst shows I've ever attended. ... It was more than an embarrassment, it was robbery of the fans' hard-earned money. You know you're in trouble when the audience is booing the headliner.''

At press time, a spokesman for the band was unable to comment on the concert or the complaints.

Creed has canceled several shows in recent months, including a high-profile televised gig from San Francisco's Alcatraz Island, with Stapp claiming acute laryngitis. The group had only two shows remaining before the end of the year--the Chicago gig (which had been postponed from earlier in the year) and an appearance Tuesday night in Las Vegas as part of the 2002 Billboard Music Awards.

"I'm just kind of making it through right now the best that I can,'' the singer told the online music news service Launch.com on Dec. 14. "The healing process starts when I stop singing. So, it's good enough to live up to my standard at a live show, and if it's not I'll come back and play it again.''

could this really happen? or will he just ignore us here in chicago?

THANKS for posting this, as sad as it was to read..
Last paragraph seems straight...
His voice will heal when he stops singing...yeah - doen't mean forever! And, if the show wasn't up at the live concert, he would go back (as he has before.)

Couple other comments...
* They DID play Alcatraz...a short list, and stressed voice, but they didn't cancel.
* And, what did they mean by "CLAIMING" acute laryngitis?

I posted this article last night, exposing Greed for the popmous, arrogant posers they are. They don't care about the fans. Everyone wants to cut Stapp some slack. Well, if I went to work drunk, I would get fired. People wouldn't "undertand." He goes to work drunk where thousands of people have shelled out their hard earned caysh and completey disrespects them. Meanwhile, you people continue to buy their albums and allow them to live like KINGS.

You are all SUCKERS

Creed is a disgrace

Geez, there should be some sort of IQ test you have to pass to become a CreedFeed member...

IF YOU DON'T LIKE CREED, WHY WASTE YOUR TIME ON A CREED FAN SITE?????? GO TO A CREED BASHER SITE - YOU WILL BE WELCOMED WITH ARMS WIDE OPEN.

Yeah, a lot of the afternoon DJs dis him around here, too, but the overnight guy the other night was really cool. He was saying he got a lot of e-mails from Creed fans talking about how great the Philly show was. He said he thought Creed fans were the nicest bunch of people and that they really love their band. I couldn't agree more. It was nice to hear someone be real about it. He then played What If! I was loving it.

Creed fans are made up of a lot of nice people. I have noticed at shows that I can get totally separated from the people I came with and still have a kick ass time because I have met so many cool people to hang with.

Dogstar
01-04-2003, 08:41 PM
Yup, the line of people is full of friendly folks. We all met some interesting folks in Philly. It's just so much fun. At the PSU show, I went alone, and the group near me had met Souldancer in Vegas, so they sort of adopted me for the evening and let me hang with them during the show. We all got on the catwalk. It was awesome. The same folks came to Philly and it sure was nice to see them again!

That is awesome. It's cool to hang with wild and crazy Creed fans that are just as crazy as me. Most people I know think I take the Creed thing overboard, but some are like that. My husband is 7 years older then me and a lot of our friends are married with kids also, but I can't really relate to them all that much. I am younger, I am only 23, but I do what I am supposed to do 24/7 and Creed is something I fully relate to and is an outlet for me. Most of our friends don't jam when they clean the house, etc. I do and it's cool to hang out with people who are just as much of a Creed Fan as I am. That is why I am so excited about Creedfest.

That's why I love this board so much. My close friends like Creed, but we are all married and live different lives, so we don't see as much of each other anymore, and they aren't as fanatical as I am. My husband loves me, gives me more freedom than any husband I know, but he's not a Creed fanatic either. So meeting people like Dogstar, Luvscott, Souldancer, Kboo and Aimee who share the common love of this band has made me so happy. And that's why I can't wait to meet the rest of you in Orlando. Because it's something we can all understand, and none of us are going to look at the other like he/she's nuts. (I get that look a lot!:nut: )

LOL, me too. My husband used to tease me a lot. I have like TV appearances scheduled in my cell phone so it calls me when they are coming on, stuff like that. I made him sit and watch Behind the music and he appreciates them and respects them. I LOVE him to death. If I had to sneak to listen to Creed I would thump a big knot on my husbands head. He wouldn't feel that way for long. LOL. I am really looking forward to Creed Fest.

I can TOTALLY relate! My friends look at me like" get a life" when I talk about Creed and going to the concerts etc... I am pretty much the laughing stalk at work, but you know..............................I really don't care! Creed has given me so much, incredible music, an outlet esp this past year when I had literal hell to go through and best of all Meeting you great people! The best thing for me is gaining new friends who share the same desire, Creedfest is going to be so much fun! I sincerely can't wait to meet you all!:D

I hear you guys. My friends, especially the ones who can't stand Creed, think I have completely lost what was left of mind. I don't care what they think. Obsessed, passionate, pick the adjective. It doesn't matter. I like what I like and I make no apologies!:D

I got you all beat , I'm 6'2 , my wife is 5'5 and today she turns 30. I'm an old man I'm 33 and everyone thinks I'm nuts because I donate so much time to go see Creed, or when they are on tv I have to be home to watch it. I have a pvr now that is kind of like tivo so I just record and save all of their performances.

Can someone give me a refresher on that date for Creedfest? I am up here in Wisconsin, but I might be able to get there. I can relate to everyone thinking I'm nuts about Creed, except all you fine people. But just so you know, 33 is not old! I'm 31, and that's not far off. Creed fans come in all sizes and ages!:P

I know it's not affiliated. It'd just be great to talk with other fanatics. Where abouts is everyone on this board from? I'll talk to him tonight. He's in FL now. Lucky duck. I have snow on the ground. I should take my kids out and make a crest in the snow!!
