Scott Stapp will embark on his first-ever solo tour in support of his album, The Great Divide, which has already gone platinum. Stapp will begin the tour in his home turf of Orlando, FL on February 23, with 15 dates announced thus far. He will be playing primarily smaller clubs on the trek.

It's platinum for shipped, not sold.

its sad that there are so many great bands out there that get dropped because they can't sell enough albums and lets face it 'the great divide' is a so-so album at best and it goes platinum already.

Once you've successfully established yourself... it's easier to stick around.

I believe the estimated number of albums sold is 340,000, give or take a few thousand.

One Day Remains was shipped "gold" and it was also certified gold, though at the time it still had not sold 500,000 copies. Why should it be different for Stapp?

ODR has actually sold gold, though. I believe the sales are around 700,000 for that. Stapp's still hasn't sold gold yet, although it has shipped platinum.

I work at circuit city in johnstown pennsylvania. To be honest with you, the same 66 copies of that album that we got on november 22 are the same 66 albums that are sitting in the store right now. We havent sold a single copy, and you know what...I THINK THATS AWESOME.

The article from the scott marries thread states that his album has now gone DOUBLE PLATINUM.

I understand that it was certified platinum due to the amount shipped (rather than sold), but DOUBLE platinum - isn't that two million? I thought Wind-Up only shipped one million. Slightly confusing.
